Presumeably we can buy the "Racers Pro Package" or somesuch from SCT for about $300, which allows users the same adjustments as the pros. The issue becomes, know what to tweak, and what NOT to tweak

Yeah, we dont even have 10% of the capabilities they do, from what ive seen. And for 300 bucks Ill just keep paying to get my car up on a dyno and letting Doug do the work for me.

 

I have the Pro Racers Package from SCT for my supercharged 00 GT and can control virtually every parameter in the stock computer. You can create as many tunes as you want or need. If u want to run race gas you go the timing tables and add timing at WOT. You can create your own fuel curves etc. The learning curve is steep but the end results are more than satisfying, knowing that you tune your own car. The upgrade is 400 if i am not mistaken and it comes with a Base Tune and the database for your particular computer.
