question about removing the muffler

I just wanted to know how exactly if there is a god..how he would let the bolt above the muffler be where it is.....

im trying to jimmy a wrench in there like a tard.
does it even need to be removed? the difficulty of reaching that bolt leads me to believe the bracket gets installed before the muffler..

i know others have done this so i ask how exactly

thanks

I don't know about the V6, but on the GT I know you don't have to remove any bolts near the muffler.

you can undo the front mounts only and slip them out...

i got to all the bolts fairly easily...

I've done it twice when I swapped out the OEM mufflers for Flowmaster ATs.. .then just today, I swapped out the Flowmasters for MAC Boomtubes (btw, completely awesome sound!). Anyway, you need a ratcheting box-end wrench (13mm). even with only 1/2" clearance, you can remove that bolt. See pic.

ratchet wrench wins! Also if everything else is loose you can pull down on the muffler to fit a regular rachet in there.

u know no idea how many times that little angle feature got me out of a jam. worth every penny and i think sears is having some kind of sale on a bunch of tools

Yeah I just finished swapping out my OEM muffler for a GT/CS one and i know exactly what bolt your talking about what i did to remove the muffler was loosen the the bolts on the rubber mount on the farthest back of the muffler, just removing the the bolt on the side not the bottom and olny loosening the bottom allowing me to move the bracket and popping out the hanger then on the rubber mount your talking about i removed it completely with both bolts, then loosened the connector on the muffler to the pipe and with a rubber mallet eased it out then to put the new muffler on *you will not use one of the mounts as the GT muffler only has two hangers* i put the mount that i removed completely on the hanger then slided the new muffler on and pushed the remaing hanger onto its mount then i bolted the one bolt i removed first and didnt tighten all the way now with the mount that is that hardest to put on i had luck putting the bolt on the bottom first (i raised my car on a jack to give me some head room) i found that by positioning your body under the car with like a pillow under your back you can see where the hole is to screw in the bottom bolt then once you screw it in *dont tight all the way* finally put you last blot on the side on and thats when you can tighten everthing ***but before you do make double sure your muffler is slid all the way along the pipe as far as it can go, you might need to wiggle it back and fourth i found WD-40 also helped*** and onnce everything i tight, your all set to rock and roll
