Pypes option

So i have been thinking about adding duals to my pony for a long time and as soon as i get enough money im ready to invest in this mod. My question is is the pypes exhaust worth it? It is about half the price of the frpp exhaust so im wondering what people think of it. Also, is there more than one choice for a v6 exhaust system from pypes?

You may consider this option.. just add GT Mufflers from eBay @ about $50/pair CHEAP!

http://www.ninosport.com/Ninosport-D...-07-Mustang-V6

I bought a pair of GT mufflers & installed one on the stock V6 single exhaust, but I will go DUAL sometime in the near future using the Ninosport package.

That does sound like a good cheap idea. Heres a question though. If i do the same thing and temporarily just add the single muffler, will it sound louder than the single v6 exhaust? I dont race my stang or anything so im not looking for major horsepower gains just a better and louder sounding exhaust.

You will DEFINITELY get that! The performance and sound are BOTH improved by replacing the stock muffler with the GT version.

When I changed my muffler to the GT everyone in the shop SMILED when I started the engine! People who were standing around waiting for their cars told me, "**** that sounds GREAT!"

IMO anyone with a V6 should at least replace the air box with a CAI and use the GT muffler...

The performance is not affected by the muffler. It may sound faster...but it's usually in your head.

Matt, with all due respect & no offense intended, but you don't drive a V6 and presumably haven't experienced the difference in performance of stock vs. GT mufflers so what are you basing your comment on?

Basic physics of the internal cumbustion engine dictates that performance is increased when back pressure is reduced, which is one of the differences between a GT muffler and the stocker.. the difference in sound is also a result of the lower back pressure.

As far as pypes exhaust. I like it. My car is a 08 GT but I have a pypes axle back and I love the way it sounds.

They say you only pick up about 5 hp from stock to an aftermarket axle back.

Sorry as I wasn't specific. Correct, there are performance gains from opening up the airflow for the exhaust/engine. I have driven in several V6's before and after axle-back swaps. What I meant to get at is don't expect to notice much on the butt-o-meter after you put a GT muffler on, that's all.

Matt,

That's cool... thanks for clarifying! I know it's not a huge increase, but technically the muffler does give slightly better performance.

The V6 is a fun engine - I kinda like the hi-RPM "peaky" feeling of its powerband, I was 125cc moto-cross racer, so I'm used to that. I've driven the V8 and it felt "heavy" - when I jumped back into my V6 after test driving a GT, mine felt snappy & light in comparison...

Wow thats great to know. Now the question is if im going to do it in two steps (mufflers and then buy the pipes and install later) should i go ahead and invest in some GTAs? They sound like theyr a great muffler and would be worth the 300 or so dollars.

WTCV6Stang - buy whatever mufflers you ultimately want on the car... install one now & the other when you go to the dual set-up...

I'm running a single Gt take off right now picked up about 1-2mpg and sounds much better, I'm going to pick up an x pipe from pypes this week @ Hershey swap meet. I bought the driver side GT pipe at englishtown. Now just have to go for it and cut the Y pipe and rear valance on a car with less than 2k on it FUN FUN FUN beats fightning rusty bolts on pre 48 stuff though.
