Jimp Procharger make’s 4 models F, D, P600B the F series is their competition charger 500-2300HP. The one for the 4.0 is the (diff design than the F series) P series which they state “ P-1SC Quiet operation” per Procharger.

I am at this time leaning towards the Procharger. The X charger could be in the running if my thinking is correct. I am thinking due to the new design of the improved MP 90 having a redesigned and larger inlet, forced air also set at a lower RPM per bigger blades should mean cooler charged air going in than the old P 90. This is not including other improvements they made, now Doug seems to get around 200 HP per his Tune out of the 4.0’s. So if we add a X-charger new MP 90 and we know from their site the old one put out about 75 HP. I would think and hope the new one would be close to 275-300 HP with no intercooler, no intercooler air to water, no oil line tap and on 6 Psi and of course looks good sitting on the engine. The one question I would like to know is that 75HP on the old M 62 at the rear wheels or are they talking flywheel HP I would think rear wheels.

Thanks for posting that link, if you find the 4.0 link I liked to see it

Yeah I really like the X-Charger. I think it would be much more fun where you use it 99.999% of the time, on the street. I'd be more willing to trust an X-Charger also, it has a history of use on 4.0s. With the ProCharger I use a wait and see approach. I'd let someone else get one to find out how the install went. We already know of one guy that put a ProCharger on a 4.0 and had all kinds of problems...and also made some good power. We haven't heard back from the guy yet to see the final numbers. Belial was the guy I think. I emailed Explorer Express and from the reply I got I'd say the X-Charger is at least 3 months away from production. I'll watch and learn from belial and others and continue to beef up my steed in the meantime in anticipation.

To me that sounds horrible, and the air filter right above the hot exhaust manifold/header is sure a nice touch

Well, pretty much the procharger is awesome, but the company is not.

Basically, even the 7 PSI kit needs the injectors. That's what we've been fighting all along. 19lb injectors are pretty well maxed out with a kit putting 300 horsepower to the rear wheels... it just can't stay rich enough. However, procharger is loathe to admit this because there goes their number one justification for charging $200-$300 more for their 9 PSI kit.

The install isn't done, I've been on vacation (writing this from Mexico) but will update when I get back.

It's still an awesome kit, with an excellent head unit and good solid construction, but you might need a little more work than they claim when you put it in.

More to come.
