In my opinion the Pony package redefines the retro look of the original mustangs. The fog lights in particular are very reminiscent of the 60's. In fact, I cannot even recall any Mustang having fog light like the present day GT. Since the Pony package wasn’t offered in 2005, I could have gone either way when I upgraded my car and I chose the Pony grill over the GT grill. I did however, choose the Gt deluxe wheels over the bullits.
I've attached a picture of a 68' Stang and mine to illustrate what I'm saying.

 

I also like the PONY package looks. When cruising through any dealers that had 06 models on the lot at the time I would take PONY package and GT pics. Its a great looking V6. Here are some 06 PONY and GT's.

 

At first, I didn't dig the pony package, now its one of my favorite styles. I wish it was available when I bought my stang.

 

I like the pony package. It is a great looking car overall. Most non-mustang fans can't tell the difference between the cars (GT-Pony) But there is enough of a difference. Love the Fogs!
Besides for the rocker stripe it is a great looking overall set up.
The GT has its own style and I'm glad the 2 have differences

 

That 68 is a model car right? Looks almost fake.

I really like that look. Very classic looking.. Gt just looks strong and gets the gt label with it. Both very unique and good looks for our cars

Gots a question. Now, I've been debating getting a pony grille for my 05, but the car is black. And by that I mean Black outside and inside. (Well Dark Char Leather) Anyway, how do you guys think it will look on a car that is all black? I mean I have some chrome on the car. I have 1968 side fender emblems that are stainless and look BEAUTIFUL and I have the stainless of my JBA tailpipe. Do you think the pony grille would be a bit much though? Does anyone have GOOD pics of an all black V6 with the grille?

Finally, for any of you 05 owners that installed the grille, was it a total pain in the ***? Oh and of course, how much and where ?

I like the look of the bigger fogs, just my personal opinion. When I was looking at a new grille for my v6, i almost bought the Pony Package grille, the only thing i didnt like about it was the larger honeycombs. Still though, the Pony Package cars look great!

 

Nope, it's the real thing. Love that look! This picture was the inspiration for my choice.

 

I like the Pony Package, but I am naturally biased since that's what I own. I prefer the black rocker panels on the V6. The GT's painted rocker panels create a "bulkier" looking body IMO. I like the smaller fog lights and the suspension package is great. I opted for the paint stripe delete. The Pony Package was a great value at $1195.

 

even better value at 750 now, though it no longer comes with ABS/Traction control.

 

for 1195 it included the 750 dollar abs/tcs option, basically the 250 dollar ext sport app package, the better rims, the ponys, the pony caps, and the grille with fogs. Complete bargain

yeah im a big fan of the pony package. havnt decided if i want to leave the big strip at the bottom or not. it stays for now. im just glad i finally had a nice day to wash my car. it was filthy.

 

My wife's 06 Pony Package. Besides the drivetrain, it has all the same options as my 05 GT, plus side airbags. She really loves her car. It turns a lot of heads.

 

I don`t like the lower rear body molding of the GT,
but if the V8 is your game. . . . .
I`ve had my PP now for over a year and absolutly love it.

 

When I first saw the PP I really did not care much for it. I was really happy with my 05 v6.

It really started to grow on me after awhile and the extra features for the money could not be beat.

I absolutly love mine and am so glad it does not have the tape stripe. I just don't think it looks right on black. I really do think it looks better thatn the GT fogs.

I love my car and how it looks now, but that grille does look good on black and it would add some character to the front end. Also it would really add the the retro look which is one of my favoreite things about this car.

Any advice for someone who can't make up their freakin mind? :P
