Since there is required cutting is it still possible to get it back to stock?
Well i guess you could order that tube that i had to cut or you could try just taping it back on i dont know how well it would work but its just a hard plastic tube with nothing else in it so if you could get a good seal around the cut i guees you might. This is probably why it is not legal in CA.

Thanks for the pics Tyler! Tell us how it perfroms!

Is there more power? Do you get better gas mileage?
As I said before i feel a pretty good gain when i punch it while cruising at 30-40. Not to mention the great sound. And as for the gas milage right now i probably get worse than i did b4 since im pushing it harder having fun with the new mod but ill let you know when i fill it up and find out.

I'm happy to see that the inlet tube looks thicker than what I thought from their part pictures.

It is kinda unfortunate that you have to cut that hose, I wonder what the part number is and if it can be ordered

So after having the new intake a few days how do you like it? I just finished adding GT front/rear/side's from casco to my v6 this past weekend and we are waiting on my magnaflow duals to arrive. So now i'm looking towards a CAI and a SCT tune but i'm torn between the Steeda, MMR and the K&N right now .

i just think its better. the large filter better flow and the cover makes for a better package in my opinion. you guys can do what you want but i am real happy with it. i dont want the old turned over air cleaner sound i use to have on my 69 nova when i was a kid. the cover muffels the sound a little. but you can still hear it. i have been real busy so i havent put many miles on it still have about 250 to go. ill try this weekend. once testing is done it should be 2 weeks. my buddy with the gt unit has been to vegas and back and has about 2000 miles no lite no tune and loves it.

Out of curisosity after reading several posts on people concerned about the air/fuel ratio being thrown off without a tune. I e-mailed K&N and I just now got a reply; it reads:

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in K&N products we are experiencing
heavier then normal e-mails and we apologize for the late response. The
whole concept and job of the on board computer is to maintain fuel
control. The computer will compensate for the additional air flow.
There is no need to worry.

Thank you,
Leon S. Collins

I ended up going with the K&N with it and my GT duals, the power gain and sound increase is great (without being to loud or ricey). I've had it for about 1k miles now with no check engine lights or any other problems. Now I just need a tune, 3.73 gears, and a t-loc and I'll be happy

Don't know if anyone cares anymore but after about 5k on my intake the check engine light came on, I took it to the local ford dealer and they cleared it for free. I was told that the computer was recieving a "too rich" reading and that next time it would cost 150 bucks since it is not covered under warraty. Im a lil pissed since after talking to K&N i was told there was no tune required and now i need to re-tune. Oh well its an excuse to get an x-cal 2 or better yet replace the intake with a supercharger!(Wishful thinkin it is almost christmas after all).

Happy Holidays

Yeah... and MMR told me at least twice their CAI didn't requre a tune either... but after some datalogging it became very apparent things were pretty messed up.. LOL! Normally a CAI however will cause a car to run to lean, not to rich... sounds kind of odd.. I agree with ham... get an X-Cal2 with the proper tune... you'll be amazed!

Just so you guys know, my A/F ratio after installin the K&N was 13.7. I had to add 6% fual at WOT to get it into the 11.9 and 12 range. So its still technically "safe" because its not lean enough to melt pistons or anything lol, but it definately needed to be richened up a bit.
