Estimated Horsepower Gain: 7.54 HP @ 4996 RPM

Everyone else so far is promsing so much as 20 rwph .. they claim 7.54 HP? I wonder if thats at the wheels or crank..

That's about the same hp gain as the MMR intake without a tune (they've said 8hp). The K&N numbers are probably without a tune as well. Now then, get someone to tune the K&N with an X-cal and a dyno and we'll see...

Gains are probably at the wheels.

That's funny. I was just going to post about the K&N CAI being out for the V6!

Here's a link to the instruction sheet.

K&N CAI Install Instructions

Anyways, here's a pic!

Are you guys going to go for this one or another brand?

I'm stumped... I have no clue which intake to purchase. I'm gonna wait a bit to see what sort of gains people are getting with the K&N and a tune.

400 bucks for the K&N, seems to high for the gains.

If thats w/o a tune it's perfect because there may be room for an additional 15-20 from a tune. If not then Steeda is good enough with it's 16-20 rwhp gain @ $295.
It really doesnt make sense for there to be only 7 rwhp on the K&N since they retooled everything, should make more. I'm going to remain neutral till I know if that w/ or w/out a tune.
If its w/out it's my CAI, otherwise I'll get Steedas.

You are talking about this whole kit right?

It gains 18 rwhp (probably w/tune) and is 50 bucks cheaper than the K&N

decisions decisions

the MMR kit with the inlet tube has been tempting... I'll probably wait another month or two then make a choice.

I had emailed them, and got this response in today.
Hello,

Thank you for your interest in K&N products. K&N intake kits are designed to bolt in. There is no need to re-calibrate the ECU. The testing was done with no re-tune.

Here's my only concern with a CAI while under warranty: If the intake requires a tune, then you can't flash it back to stock without the check engine light coming in when you take it in for warranty work.

Methinks I'm going to pick from the options that don't require a tune (but will still greatly benefit from a tune)

BTW... I've seen the GT K&N intake going for around $260... I have a hunch that the V6 version will be similarly priced from those venders.

I've seen it go as low as just over 100 bucks with some savings.
The 400 dollar price was from K&N's own online store, other vendors dont seem to have it yet listed.

Sure you can...just switch back to the OEM intake after the flashing the tune back to stock.
