I took the plunge

I put a deposit on a V6 convertible today. I'm ordering the car to avoid paying over sticker, but I finally did it.
Light blue, fully loaded, $26k
Anyone know how long it really takes to get a car from the factory? The dealer said 3 months, but I'm hoping to have it by the end of June.

My order was cut on 26 November 2004 and I got the Mustang on April 22, 2005. My order was one of those held up by the IUP lawsuit, hopefully yours will not take as long.

How did you get a fully loaded V6 vert for 26k? Not only are you not paying over sticker, sounds like you are paying quite a bit understicker. Ford's site has a fully loaded vert over 28k.
Good deal for you!!

I got a good deal on the car because my brother has bought so many cars from that dealership. From what I understand, the dealer is going to make $1,000 on me for the car.
My brother did the deal, so all I had to do was sign the papers.
I also got a credit for oil changes and extra floormats (my brother is really big on getting extra floormats).
I'm actually kind of scared about all of this -- the insurance is 3k a year and the car payments are about 100 more than I pay now on my S2000--but I'm selling the Honda to the dealer this week and I'll be without a car until the Mustang comes in, so I guess I'll have time to set some money aside. I just hope the Mustang is here for the end of June.

Considering the number of people who ordered months ago and aren't getting their cars at all, selling your current car before the new one comes in is pretty gutsy. (Though I think it is only GT orders that are getting dumped.)

Ford can't keep up with production. The engine in the GT is the same as the one in the F150 and they aren't going to reduce F150 production to meet the Mustang demand because they make a higher profit on the F150.
There are most likely other supply issues as well. Basically they underestimated the demand for the GT and they can't increase production enough.
