i think my alternator is dead
i think my alternator is dead
on the way home tonight i noticed my volt gague seemed low while doing a steady 70 on the parkway.
like halfway between middle and 0
maybe my stereo killed it? i just replaced the battery like a month ago
so i checked on my nav unit and it showed voltage at 10.9 .. i was like omg...
when i shut the car off it jumped to 11.9
any theories?

im thinking the battery i got was defective..
on the way to work the voltage kept dropping.. hit 10 and everything shut off.. but the car still ran
guess il get a jump and have both tested..
any ideas?

Check to make sure it is charging. Use a voltmeter on the battery with the car running to check it. It very well could be the alternator. A friend of mine had the alternator go bad, it over-charged the electrical system, fried the battery and the pcm.
so i had the battery tested..good..
so i bought a alternator there for 285..ugh ..but the good thing is it took all of 20 minutes to remove the old and install the new one.. runs great now lol
