which exhaust rumbles your stang?

While I'd love a little extra pep in the pedal, I'm too in love with the stock sound to change it. I drive way too many miles every day, so putting on something loud just won't do. I Love the stock sound though, and so given the choice, I'll keep the stock's smooth and distinct note. There's something to be said about being fast AND quiet... Anyone ever seen a bones stock lighting pickup truck at a strip? The stinker is bad to the BONE, and all you hear is the whine of the Supercharger. It's Eerie and BAAAAAD! What was so increadible was watching it light up the tires and billow out smoke and just... not hearing any noise. AMAZING. Now THAT'S a sight to see!

I'm still undecided. Do you guys have any clips you can post of your exhaust? Most of the ones I see are all clips for the GT.
Edit- oh yeah and here is the lovely sound of stock. Stock exhaust sound clip

GT take-offs on mine too, so I voted "other".
I had a '69 GTO Judge with RAIII, Muncie 4 speed and Hurst shifter. The thing that always impressed me about that car was it was whisper quiet, but oh so fast. There is something very cool about that!
If you like the stock exhaust note but want it to have more of a snarl when you romp on it, replacing the right side muffler with a GT muffler is worth considering.

That's what I keep hearing folks say. I've been listening to clips when they come along, and I think if I wanted to change things up, that would be the way to go. For now, I have my eyes on a grille mod and some 17" take-off bullits. That stuff will take me a while to do, so perhaps I'll decide a bit later on.

sweet! Can't wait to hear it! I'm all about the power, and I actually began my auto-enthusia with my old 88 toyota pickup. I didn't have a cool car to sport around in, but a friend of mine had a '98 Cobra Vert. He used to take me out in it and just punch it. WOW was that car awesome (going from 4-8 cylinders was quite a rush). Well, I wanted my sad little 4 cyl to be something more, so I found a website that sold performance carbs, exhaust kits and such. I ended up doing some cool stuff to the motor.
The exhaust was a custom set of ceramic coated headers. I knocked out the Cat and replaced it (basically became a resonator). Then I replaced the exhaust with a cat back system. The performance gain was AWESOME, but the stupid thing sounded like a PO'ed bumblebee. I've always hated the sound. I used to drive 6 hours round trip every weekend to and from school. That drone got old FAST. Well, I drove the truck every day for YEARS, and recently I decided that I had had enough. Cops used to pull me over, people cut me off in traffic, and I just got tired of that darn sound.
I took the cat back OFF of the truck and replaced it with my factory exhaust system. Much to my surprise, the performance loss was not too terribly bad. The truck is MUCH quieter now, and it's amazing because you FEEL like you're not accelerating as quickly because the noise isn't there to tell you you are.
I actually enjoy driving that truck again. The same goes for my V6. I want it to sound smooth and somewhat quiet, yet I want it to giddeup and boogie when it counts.
On my truck, you hear the engine roar through the carburetor when you open it up, but most of the sound is coming from infront of you, not behind you. Out the back... it's tame and calm in comparison, yet still a little louder. It lets you know its running, but doesn't annoy you at speed or while highway cruisin'.
That's the sound I'm going for with my new one (when I decide to change away from the stock). Perhaps someone will make a setup someday... if not... I suppose I can always do like I did with my truck and just MAKE it!
