My stang is making a harsh whistle from 3k rpm to 3.5k. I can't tell what it is, the engine light doesn't come on n it doesn't show its running lean anywhere, so does anyone have any clue what it could be? Its an automatic v6 if that helps, and yes I know this probably isn't the best section for this but I couldn't think of anywhere else better suited.

 

Are you 100% posotive that its the engine making the noise? I only ask because my mom has an 05 v6 and it had a nasty whistle. Turned out thatshe had a bad window seal on the passenger side and the wind was blowing under it. It sounded like a small dog howling inside of her car.

 

Yep. Definitly something under the hood.

 

Ok. Well do you have any mods or is it still stock? The first place i would check is the belt and pulleys

 

Still stock (hopefully that'll change eventually but id like to get rid of this noise first) I will check that as that would make sense since its just a certain rpm range, and I have tried to find stuff on google n it suggests checking the intake manifold. I was just hoping that someone on here woulda had this problem.

 

I suppose if the intake manifold was cracked it would make a whistling noise. That does sound like a possibility. Hopefully you find it sooner that later.
