Eibach Pro Spring Change on My 05 V6
Eibach Pro Spring Change on My 05 V6
Got a question for you guys/gals,... Bought a set of Eibach Pro Springs for my 05 V6 Stang,
...my mechanic said that Changing to these springs may require and EXTENSIVE alignment,... camber plates,... and other stuff may be required,... due to the lowering changing the geometry of the stock setup,....
Does this sound correct??
Anybody have to go this far just for a spring change?
Also, I didn't get new bumpstops,.... should I cut the stock ones? Y or N
If so, how much?
Thanks Guys/Gals.!!

Eibach camber bolt kit #581260k should be all you need for the front end alignment. There are other companies that make them too, but i just ordered these from eibach. should range between $30-40 with shipping. I've seen some others a little cheaper but not sure if they have as much adjustment. As far as the rear goes i've heard that when lowered, depending how much, that it will throw off the centering of the rear end. They make new panhard bars to fix this.
I have not lowered by V6 yet, but the general answer to your question is yes your mechanic is right, because of the rear solid axle and panhard bar when lowering the axle will shift slightly. To bring the rear suspension inline to spec you will need to get an adjustable panhard bar/kit. Depending on which springs in the front you will need to get the Eibach Camber Adjustment kit for the front as the sport springs I believe make the front over 1.6 degree's negative camber. Which will cause premature tire wear on the inside.
(Edit. Pfft someone posted the same while I was typing this response.)

mines been dropped, sounds like you need a different alignment shop, buy the camber bolts which are available most any place that sells parts for our cars, from what I have seen if you dont have too wide a tire in the rear you cant notice the kick, however a new adjustable panhard bar is around 125 bucks, well worth the price to have every thing right in line, good luck and enjoy the new look!
Doesn't the V-6 Pro-Kit pkg only drop you 1", at best. Get the camber kit, enjoy the ride. Unless your really into hard driving and road course's, IMHO, you don't need the excess mods. Cut 1/2" off the Bumpstops.
PS: It's not an "extensive" alignment.

I installed a Pro-Kit on my V6 several months back. At the time I even purchased a set of camber nuts for the car. Funny thing was the rear end alignment was almost perfect when we finished the installed and the camber was just about right. What your alignment guy is say is partly true but it really depends on the car. If you're lucky then the front alignment becomes mostly a formality just to insure everything is A-OK.
I drove my 05 v6 around for almost a year with the Pro kit installed with out any mods to the suspension and no problems of any kind. About 2 months ago I broke down and added Steeda's Stage I drag pack suspension package to the car.
Eibach Parts Numbers
OK....
I bought a set of USED Eibach springs (prokit). I was told they were for a 2005 V6 Mustang. But I am not sure after checking the part numbers on the springs against Eibach's web site. I call their tech line and was on hold for over 20 minutes.
The Numbers on the springs are 35101.001 (FRONT SET) & 35100.002 (REARS SET). Can anyone tell me if this is the correct numbers for my car??
thanks!!

Well,
The springs came in a Eibach Pro-kit box, but the box they came in says 35101.140 (which IS GT, Coupe & Convertible).
BUT, I was told these ARE the correct spings for my V6 Coupe, just put in the GT box for shipping. Seems possible....
The actual numbers on the Springs are what I was checking out. The box contained the Front springs (part number 35101.001). These ARE same fronts springs listed for the GT. I know this because the instruction sheet was in the box for the Pro-Kit 35101.140 and it's listing that part number as the GT Front Spring. It's also listing the GT Rear Spring Parts number as 35101.002....
The Rear springs in the box are part number 35100.002, which could be the V6 rears or possibly for some other application. This is what I need to figure out before I dig into installing them.
Either way, Is it possible the V6 & GT use the same front spring and different Rear Springs??
Common sense tell me the OPPOSITE would be more likely.
What we go through to save a few bucks.
Thanks.

I talked to my friend at Eibach who I got my set from and he said that they didn't have to adjust the camber settings on the front with bolts etc....
I did however have to adjust the panhard brace to recenter the rearend like a few others have had to do. You won't need an adjustable panhard brace necessarily (100.00 from most places) unless you have wide tires in the rear and then the misalignment will be noticable. I adjusted my panhard brace and then used locktite.
I also didn't cut bumpstops or anything else for that matter.
Your mechanic's "extensive" modifications is a load of crap.

06GTwJUICE,
Thanks for the reply, I figured an alignment would be needed, but I didn't want to have to spend $300 more
just to lower the car a bit.
Can you ask your friend at Eibach if 35101.001 & 35100.002 are the correct spring part numbers for Front & Rear respectively, for a 2005 V6 Mustang??... That would be reassuring.
The 35101.001 is the pair really scaring me,....
Thanks.
Ron
