One of the common questions I get is how to change your shift schedule using the X-Cal2 and Extreme Tune... I will be first to admit that Extreme Tune is a you know what when it comes to any kind of help screens and documentation! A lot of what i've learned has come from trial & error...also Lidio has taught me a lot!!!

Here is a sample screen shot of my shift schedule... This is from Extreme Tune under the button "Transmission Shift Schedule". I "Swap Axis" and then click on the following boxes 12, 23, 34,45. I don't mess with the downshift shedules... TPS is throttle position... the lower the TPS number the lighter the throttle... I mainly just change the shifting under light/medium throttle... leaving the heavy throttle shifting alone.. For example under light throttle I don't shift from 1st to 2nd until about 18MPH... with the stock shedule at 18 you'ld already be in 3rd gear!!

So take a look at the screen shot:

I got Bamachips to reprogram my tune to downshift quicker at light and medium throttle. Makes the car more fun to drive. I didn't want to have to floor it to pass someone. They did it for free when they updated the software(also free).

I still can't figure out how to use the extremetune or LiveLink. LiveLink is the program that you have to use while the Xcal2 is connected to the car, right? ehh, I don't know if im doing it wrong, or if im being a moron, haha. Do you need to get the dealer to send you the tunes or can you take them right off the Xcal itself?

Yeah, Ford has got it set up pretty goofy on the downshifts.. There is just no way to really get it set up so it will downshift for an engine brake... Lidio's tune has got the downshifts working really well, so I haven't messed with it at all...

yeah, the documentation is a little.... let's say lacking... LOL!

To use Extreme Tune you need to get your dealer to provide you your tunes in a .XTR format....

And yes, LiveLink lets you collect data on your laptop while the X-Cal2 is connect to your car... Your car has to be running to us the program though...

The hardest part about Extreme Tune and LiveLink was getting the PC to load the USB->Serial driver... The X-Cal2 is not a simple USB device... it's actually a Serial device.. with a USB connector... LOL
