I'm shopping for one of the new mustangs, and I was just wondering what options are worthwhile and what not... I have a price range and insurance for a V8 GT mustang is high so I gotta stick with V6 but I was just wondering about the options for it...
as of right now I know I want to get a V6 Coupe with the Premium package... I'm just wondering how certain things are

leather seats (worth the extra money?)

Shaker 1000 (sound as good as it seems? sound as good as aftermarket system?)

Interior packages (are the color gauges really worth it?)

if ya guys could help me with these questions, I would really appreciate it... I'm ordering it before the end of the week, so the sooner u can answer some of these questions, the sooner I know exactly what I want...

I'm really excited about joining the mustang community also... this will be my first "sport" car I have ever bought... my previous cars were a Ranger, Explorer, and an F150 respectively... but I test drove the new mustang and am in love with it... even the V6 has power to spare!
aight... so anyways thanks for the help if you can give any

Myself I'd rather go with ABS Brakes instead of the Shaker 1000. You'll save on insurance and Anti-skid brakes could save your life......

The IUP is worth it to me since it comes with the computer (message center), the Metal Dash, the door sill plates, as well as the my color.

You also might consider ordering a Premium V6 since it comes with the Machined wheels, the Shaker 500, and power driver's seat. All that for about $500.

I guess it all comes down to what do you want to spend your money on?

Personally I did not get leather seats or the shaker 1000. The stock stereo system actually sounds really good. Leather was not important to me as it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I will say the light graphite cloth is pretty light colored. If I had it to do over I would have probably went with dark charcoal.
I ordered back in June 04 and got the interior upgrade and my color. I would definantly go with that. I like having the extra guages but I have set the my color on one color and have not changed it in months.
Good Luck with your purchase. You can not go wrong either way. Its a great car.

I purchased a deluxe V-6, and the only thing I wish it came with was the upgraded instrument cluster.

From a safety standpoint I very much agree that ABS/Traction Control is a good option to have. Depending on the climate where you live it could be a very useful option to have too.

My opinions of the Shaker stereo are a bit less positive. I have the Shaker 500 in mine and although I like the sound I really don't see a lot of value added. Sure the door enclosures is nice and those sub's definitely do thump a bit but the Shaker still has bugs to be worked out. The Shaker 1000 takes the same basic setup and adds additional speakers including the subs in the trunk. I really do like how well that enclosure integrates into the trunk so maybe its worthwhile but I keep coming back to the fact that the Shaker has bugs to work out.

I personally like the Message Center option more than I like MyColor. When I got this car I really wanted Message Center but was unable to get it. My plans are to get it the necessary pieces through 05stangkc and either find a local dealer willing to install it... or take a drive to Central California and have KC's crew do the installation.

In my case I specifically opted for no leather seats and am quite happy to not have the metal dash. Why? Because I live in central Arizona and summer is coming. When its 110 degrees outside the car its gonna be 150 or more inside the car and that much leather and metal is not gonna be pleasant. I've had leather seats here once before and summer and shorts were a PAINFUL combination. :bang:

My recommandation to you is get what you like, what you can afford, and what flips your switch. Over time most of our cars will be as unique as their owners (scary in my case!! LOL) And I'm betting you're gonna love having yours...

u can get ABS and the shaker on same car... u guys are making it seem like you cant...

I think I'm getting everything except the leather seats and the Anti-Theft System... because they annoy the heck out of me... =-p

is it that big of a difference from the 500 to the 1000?
if its not that big of a difference then whatver, but two 10s in the back sounds good and that would be all I have to do in the sound system department...

what do you mean Shaker has problems?

The shaker 1000 costs an extra $1200, you can get the Shaker 500 as part of the Premimun package.....
