Borla Cat-Back Exhaust on 2005 V6 Mustang
Recently installed a complete cat-back Borla dual exhuast on my son's 2005 Mustang V6. Easy to install and it fits GREAT. Biggest concerns were cutting the original exhuast correctly and cutting the rear bumper for the left side exhuast outlet. It turned out nice!! The sound of this exhaust in GREAT!! It's a HUGE difference from the original single exhuast. We've not had it on the car long enough to check the change in performance.

Looks great!! What other mods does he have? I'd also check into a SCT tuner and get a custom tune via email. Shops are doing it right now and it'll def make a diff.
*Is that lift on your garage? If so very nice! I like that!

Thanks for the comments! My son's Mustang started out looking like this:
Over the past couple of years, he's worked to make it look like this:
To answer the question about the lift... it is in our shop:
Here's some links for more Mustang information:

Geez that garage is sick! So are the cars in it! That's awesome y'all are working together as a team! My dad and I are about to a rear end swap in my v6 going to the gt500 rear end which I think is the same as a gt but it sounds better saying gt500 rear end. Lol. I'll locate some before and after pics of my v6. Your sons looks great! Keep up the good work!

First is before just trying to get some cool pics in the heavy fog we had a couple of years ago.
Second is after with the upper billet grill, FR500 deep dish. 315 out back. Had a S&B cai with SCT 93 octane tune and hurst short throw. Gt dual takeoffs with custom h pipe and dual cutouts.

Any hints on cutting the rear bumper?
What happens if I screw up and what about paint?

@karmen if you put the blue painters tape on the number and draw the outline of the cutout you want and then cut you shouldn't have to worry about paint issues. Also you can always find gt rear bumpers on craigslist or forum classified sections for around 150 and sometimes even less.

3 years ago, they were everywhere.
Lately (because the 2010 came out 2 years ago) I can't find one.
This is the cheapest unpainted (plus shipping) I can find:

And I know nothing about this vendor
I've only had the V6 for 6months.
I think I would be better off cutting.

Moostang08: Great looking Mustang!! We had considered the billet upper grill as well, but the Bullitt grill is a possibility as well since the pattern in the grill would match the front of the hood scoop.
Karman: Moostang08 is correct on cutting the rear bumper. We used plain 'ol masking tape. We made a pencil and paper to make a rubbing of the opening on the right side for the single exhaust and reversed it for a mirror image template on the left side. We used a jig saw with a new fine tooth blade and it cut the bumper very nicely without any paint damage.
fdjizm: Thanks for the compliments. My son is 19 years old and certainly cannot afford a $45,000 Shelby, but he really likes them. So he's built a very nice clone for less money than his friends have in their Honda Civics.

@Karmen www.craigslist.com isn't a vendor. It's a local eBay basically. Except no bidding and it's free to post stuff. You should def check if out!

Thanks for the idea, but I'm not so old I didn't already know to check there.

So cutting through the tape with a fine blade should preserve the paint.
Makes sense.
Sounds like a good project when it warms up again.
Thanks Moostang08 and 68FastbackGT.

Moostang08: That's very cool that you got your Mustang at 19!! I got my first Mustang when I was 15, a 1968 Mustang GT Fastback...and I still have it!! So I wanted to continue the tradition with my son...and he got his when he turned 16. I also bought a 1967 Mustang Fastback my senior year in high school and built a Shelby clone out of it...and then sold it to help pay for college. So enjoy your Mustang and make memories that will last a lifetime!!

Those are two beautiful mustangs! My first car was a 2000 v6 and my parents gave it to me. (Had a reconditioned title but ran and looked just fine) So it started to get old and finally start crapping out on me. So i got this mustang and ever since have vowed to never get rid of it and pass it down to my kid. Cool thing yall got going there!

68FB, any chance you have video of before and after - or even just after now? Does he experience any drone with the Borlas?
