I know a couple people here have gotten 05 V6's. All I've heard is GT this and GT that, just curious about peoples driving impressions of the V6's, how do they compare to the current models?

I'm very disappointed that the manuals won't be out for a while.

I bought a V-6 after trading in a 4 banger (Mini Cooper). I LOVE the car and find the power more than adequate. Nothing handles like a Cooper.

I have an auto tranny.

I drove an 05 V6 the other day(as that's what i'll be getting) all i can say is wow. The car i drove was around 20k. W/ the new mustangs you get a lot of car for your money. I thing i handled as well as my dad's 996 but that's just my opinion. Great car, can't wait for mine.

My daily driver was an 00 V6 same as yours, and the 05 is more powerful feeling. To me the car drives much heavier feeling than previous year models. I compare how it drives to a much more expensive sports car. I am very pleased with the power and the handling of the V6. Gas mileage so far is around 24 miles per gallon (2nd tank of gas) per the computer message center. For the price of the car I feel it is a bargain for the quality of the build.

Paris MkVI also wrote an excellent post about V6 driving impressions:

When I ordered my Mustang GT they only had a V6 stang for me to test drive, there was the sales person my mom and my dad in the car during the test drive and it felt very powerful getting on the freeway even with three passengers. There's a big power difference compared to the older v6 mustangs 99-04 that I have drivin in the past.

I drove a v6 at the atlanta event and it was very nice! I was very impressed at how peppy it was in comparison to other stangs I have driven - very tight steering and a smooth ride - I wish I could have driven a few more laps to get a better feel!

Kevin also wrote a lengthy review after lots of test drives. I don't have the thread address, but look back a few weeks for it. He gave it very high marks.

I have written an extended reveiw of the V6 Coupe based on my test drive. The review is somewhere here on the forum. I too was very impressed and even ordered the coupe before the test drive. You will not be disappointed with the V6.

If you go to my assistant and search for an article entitled "Test Drive V6, Doubting Thomas's Beware" you can read my review of the V6 Coupe.

The V6 has a lot of power, the handling is excellent, however I too feel the steering is slightly on the heavy side. I LOVE the car, even though it has a few minor kinks.

05 V6 manual trans with 295 miles on it. I tried to break it in but it was too hard so punched it a couple of times and it is very quick. Reverse was kind of stiff at first. The car had 6 miles when I picked it up. It smelled funny the first 50 miles but it quit. The throws are short and the power is plentiful especially at about 4100 rpm. The transmission noises are kind of disturbing and more noticeable than one would think.

I have driven the V6 Coupe in mid November 2004. I found it to be very responsive as far as acceration went and good stopping power. The V6 handles well in the apex (cornering) and defects in the road are hardly felt do primarily to the new suspension characteristics. 210 bhp in a V6 engine is plenty of power for a sporty runabout. Personally I do not think that 300 horsepower is needed other than for those folks that like to race and accumulate traffic tickets or for those on the race circuit.

I have had people say to me well you would have 300 horsepower if you need it. My response is need it for what? The difference is price between the V6 and the GT is $9000.00. The difference is price is a lot of money for vanity. I had one person of this forum suggest to me that the reason that they are buying the GT is that the GT rear end hangs lower than the V6 and has a result hides all the vehicle hardware, that did not make much sense either but living in free countries people have a right to make their own choice. I currently have a 1998 V6 with 150 horsepower it handles well and has enough acceration for my purposes and with this vehicle I make a few trips from Edmonton to Vancouver each year without any problems. The GT is for the racing performance crowd for the rest of us that want a sporty runabout with good acceleration, stopping power and comfort then the V6 is the vehicle to buy. Next time your in a Ford Showroom look for the transmission dipstick. You will find that there is no dipstick. The German S55S transmission is all enclosed and never needs transmission fluid top up.
