2006 front rotors

I have 16" rims on my 2006 v-6 mustang when i try to get front rotors at the auto store I get 12" rotors that are too big mine measure 11" is this a common issue ? will the 12" rotors work with 16" rims if i change caliper mounting bracket

thanx

Having just done a brake job on my 2005 V6 last weekend, this is fresh on my mind.

The rear rotors are 11.8in and the fronts are 11.5in. What parts store did you go to? They should've been able to look this up pretty easily. They probably gave you a GT front rotor, which is 12.4in.

If you want to use the GT front rotors, you'll also need the GT caliper brackets and 17in wheels. *The GT rotors will NOT fit under the stock 16in wheels.*

If it's not too late, you should check out Newtakeoff.com and get rotors there unless you found some for cheap elsewhere. The rear rotors are the same between V6 and GT. Only the fronts are larger on the GT.

Not to hijack your thread, but I also have stock 16 inch wheels. My rotors are warped and I'll know Thursday how bad and if I will need to replace them and/or the brake pads. Do I really have a options for better quality brakes or am I stuck with whatever napa has on hand?

Well he never came back to his thread, so feel free to hijack.

Of course you have options. You can check American Muscle, for example, and you'll find several rotor options that fit the stock size. Same with brake pads. Though you will pay more compared to Napa/etc.

If you're just looking for daily driver hardware, then I suspect the brake performance we'll be nearly identical regardless of what you get. But some rotors may be less prone to warp, some pads may dust more/less, etc.
