05 V6 exaust sound

Hmm... I need to read a little better....
Title says v6... heh...
The "crackle" you describe I think is the backpressure your exhaust develops when you are engine breaking, (not using the gas, but instead riding the engine) the engine is running, but not producing any posotive torque beyond what is required to run...
With my GT and the SLP Powerflos, the pops are very prevelent... especially when I am coasting into my neighborhood in second gear... I love that sound!

They do it when there is no load, and engine decceleration is coming down quick. It's almost trying to catch up to itself, so you hear some popping.

Was taking pics of the exhaust pipes today so figured I'd take a video clip too. This is the sound you mean? Stock V6 exhaust
It's not too bad sounding, but a good pair of SLP's will take care of that if they ever get the darn things made for the V6.

Like ManEHawk said, any time you rev the car into the high rpms without a load on the engine, you will get that popping sound as the engine speed quickly drops back down. No matter what aftermarket exhaust you get, it will still do it. If you only rev it to about 2500 or so, you are less likely to get the popping noise, and you won't hear it if you actually have a load on the engine an driving.
