05-09 mustang Gt muffler on a 2006 mustang v6?
I have a v6 2006 mustang and im not too happy on the way it sounds. I was gonna buy a flowmaster for $210 but i found a 2007 mustang GT muffler for $40. I saw on a couple videos that people have been removing there stock v6 muffler and put on the GT muffler without welding. But what i wanted to know is that is this a good idea? I dont wanna get a awesome flow master and have my mustang sound like a 5.0 but its actually a v6. Also will it make a nice sound difference because when i bought my mustang i asked the man at the dealership about the GT mufflers and he said that its the same muffler from a v6 but on the GT there is two. Is that true?
Any help would be awesome

The muffler being the same is probably true. Back in 2006 people were cutting up the rear bumper and mounting two mufflers on the V6 models. I imagine Ford kept cost down by using the same part number for both models.

V6 with a single GT muffler
I have done the afor mentioned, the swap is an easy take off put on. No welding required. First off let me say that you will never get a V6 to sound like a V8 with any muffler "PERIOD" ! Second a Gt muffler is different than a V6, it is free er flowing which will loosen up some hp and actually has a nicer tone when idling and a chrome tip. Save your money on putting GT duals on as they won`t give any increase in hp over a single GT.

The GT manual mufflers are more open than the automatic so a little deeper tone with that as well.
They mount exactly the same, and the pipe diameter is the same from 2005 to 2010 so it is a direct swap for the axle back mufflers.
Don't be fooled though by someone trying to sell you "GT500 Take Off" mufflers - they may be from a GT500 but up until the 2010 model year Ford used the same mufflers on the GT500 as for a GT with an automatic. There was nothing special about them until 2010.

I ran a single GT muffler way back when while i was waiting on my pipes to come. It is a different muffler for sure. It does sound a little better too, but not hugely. This is the V6 on the top, GT below. The stainless tip will stick out of the bumper a couple inches, but its not a bad look. Ive been running 2 GT mufflers for 7 years. I`m really happy with them still.
If you only get 1 muffler, make sure you get the one for the pass side. Pictured here is the GT muffler for the drivers side. They are side specific.
