I've had my 05 GT for a while now and one thing I don't like about it is the steering feel.
It feels a little mushy and inprecise. One of the mods I'd like to do is to firm it up a little for a more precise feel.
What do you folks thing about the steering feel?

I have an employee that owns a 5 series and he drove my car back from the tint shop last week for me. He said the car was really fun to drive and the steering response was fun. I assume he was referring to the steering feel in a positive light. I know the suspension could be tightened up more and I'am going to do that soon. But the steering itself, I think is great from the factory.

The 05 Stang needs firmer lowering spring and thicker sways to improve feel. Also, the OEM Pirellis need to be replaced with something with a stiffer sidewall. I will be doing all of the above and then some.
My dad has an 05' 545i and there is a huge difference in the feel. The BMW's suspension is so much more responsive and intuitive. German cars have such an amazing feel to them. I haven't driven an American car that can replicate it. Even my friend's SRT10 Viper and Z06 doesn't come close. Both cars handle with the best of them, but don't inspire as much confidence at or near the limit.

I think the car steers great...visually it may not seem "crisp" because you're looking out across a long hood, if that makes since? ...then again, this from someone who's been driving a Jeep Wrangler on mudders for the past 5 years...ha!ha!

Many things affect steering feel. Do you have the stock pirellis? They are a fairly tall tire and all season. A summer tire with lower profile might improve how you feel. Also, I remember reading in the initial evaluations from various magazines that the steering was slightly overboosted, which I would tend to agree with. I'm very happy with the steering feel overall. So much better than any mustang prior.

After 9k miles I'm fairly happy with it at most speeds and on most road surfaces.
Where I find it lacking is on moderately rough roads when the pavement is of changing texture, height, pitch or angle.
In this case, anything over 80 mph feels pretty disconnected, it just kinda floats.
Nothing $$money$$ can't cure . . .

Since im on Eibachs...I may be biased here...but my steering is phoenomenal. My mom's jaguar and my friend's 2005 5 series feel very broad, and i don't exactly feel like im going where i want to.
I love the feel of mine

I have no complaints with the steering feel or the handling at all. It's great to me - especially after driving a wore out Explorer and Ranger for an untold number of years. You know-when you have to turn the wheel a quarter of a turn before anything happens. HA. How could I not be happy !!!!

I use mine as a daily driver and the stock suspension setup is about right for this type of duty... any stiffer, and this could make the car a chore to drive on a daily basis... As a pure sports machine, there is room for improvement... But that;s the beauty of these cars, there is always room to add a little personnal touch and performance...

I wish the steering was telescopic, but the preciseness is good (I came from a Saab 93 Aero, which was so twitchy in the steering it was weird).
I wish the damned stick was further back towards the seat. I hate stretching (I'm 6')

Mine very tight a precise. Maybe you have a front suspension problem (Strut TSB)? A few people stated a big handling difference after getting strut TSB fixed. Just a thought...

I'd tell most to put on a set of 18's with some nice ultra-high performance tires like BFG KDW's and see how it feels.
To me, its night and day compared to the stock Pirellis which were not as capable as the car IMO.

I wouldn't know, I use throttle steering!
Seriously now, mine feels very precise in corners even in the wet, and I still have the stock tires on.
Have yours checked, just to make sure nothing's come loose. If that's not the cause, try 18" tires, stiffer springs, anti-roll bars...
