From the web site it looks like the XCal works on multiple vechicles but only holds 3 tunes + factory. I am thinking of purchasing one but would like to know how it will work on other vechicles? Has anyone used it on a Stang and a Lightning (or other ford)?

I could be wrong but I believe you have to flash your first car back to stock before it will allow you to program another car. If not let me know cause then I would sell mine.

Nope you got it right. Flash one car back to stock, then you can flash another car.

The only way I see that being useful is when one car is in storage or laid up for an extended amount of time.

Hmm. That blows. I was going to buy one to use on 2 vechicles.

The predator can only be used on the type of car it is programmed for. You can use it for another 05/06 stang but no trucks, etc.

Same thought I've had before. It's a way for them to sell one per vehicle.

It'd be far more useful to hold two stock tunes and two custom tunes (4 total still) instead of making us pay $400 for each car.

Everyone has it right, it will only work on one vehicle at one time. You mentioned using it on 3 vehicles, and what they mean by that, is that over the life of the tuner, it can be used on 3 separate vehicles before it will stop allowing you to use it on another new car.

I've debated if I would ever want to use the SCT as a datalogger for my 05 Explorer if the need was ever to arise. In order to do this, I would have to load the stock tune to the Mustang, then datalog on the Explorer, and then reload the tune to the Mustang once I was done. I would hate to use one of the 3 VIN spaces the unit has for just datalogging, but at the same time, it costs close to $100 just for most shops to run a code checker, so it may well be worth it to use it this way.

My father-in-law has a Lightning and was talking about getting a tuner for it, I was going to buy one and use in on my stang and his L. I guess he will have to fork over the $$ for one on his own.

Cant wait till I get mine

Yeah, that was kind of my original ideal. My uncle has a 2005 Mustang GT and I have the 2006. At first, I thought we could split the expense, but I soon found out otherwise. Too bad, but I guess you can't blame them for trying to make money!

It doesnt use a vin space to use the data logging feature, you can data log/ read/ clear codes any amount of ford vehicles (Provided they are ODBII compliant).

He's right. Datalogging/reading/clearing codes will work regardless of which car its mated to (as longas its a Ford, of course )

Yep, only can flash one vehicle with it, unless you put the other one back stock.

I've got TWO Xcal2's, one for the L, one for the Stang.
