I have an '05 Mustang GT auto, love it, but I want it to go faster, much faster. Plan on doing a Kenne Bell s/c hp/$ works out best from what I've read. I've also read the car can't have any other power mods except the S/C due to the tune that KB puts on it. I'm not well learned on the internal workings of the combustion engine, but I got the concept down. I need forged pistons, rods, and heads I believe, but do they sell those parts, or do I have to buy a whole block with this stuff in it? I know it's not gonna be cheap, but I have ~$7,000 saved up so far, Im guessing it's going to end up around ~$14,000 or so.
1. What exactly is a torque converter, what does it do, when would a car need one?
2. What parts would I need to strengthen in the engine/drivetrain/suspension?
2a. What do you recommend?
2b. Where do I get it?
3. What about the block, oil pan, etc?
4. What about the auto tranny, do they make stronger ones?
5. What should I do to run 450rwhp without breaking anything?
6. How about 550rwhp?
I want to learn about engines inside and out, what kind of books are available to read up on this stuff. I'd like to one day be able to be knowlegable to do all my own work to the car.
Thanks tons, I wish I knew someone whose brain I could pick for hours. Sorry if these are dumb Q's, but I searched and searched here and many other forums first. Even bumped several year old threads by accident, lol.

They sell internals, if you don't know much might be better to buy an already built short block and add whatever heads you want w/all your accessories as well.
Torque converter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque_converter
Parts = Depends on your goal, if 450 is it you should be ok, 550 is really pushing limits.
Blocks fine but it depends what you do, on something like this don't see it necessary to change an oil pan although your fuel system will have to be upgraded for the s/c
Go to Barnes and Noble, they actually sell 4.6 3-valve specific books, learn all you want to know, pm with any other questions if you'd like, it's easier.

out of curiousity how big of a labor cost do you think one could expect to have one of the rotating assemblies off that page installed?
I was thinking about purchasing one and having it installed with a KB 2.6L stage 2 kit just to make **** sure I dont chew up an engine.
