Will fresh plugs lean out my motor?

I'm going to change out my plugs tonight to try and recover some of my lost horsepower. Will this cause the car to go lean? I'm worried because I'm running nitrous and lean + nitrous = very bad.

I do not see how it would make the car run lean at all. Plugs wouldn't affect that.

Thought maybe they would burn the gasoline more effectively causing it to go lean. Maybe I'm just worrying too much.

Are you using the same heat range plug?

Plugs won't change AFR. The issue with running nitrous is higher combustion chamber temps and pressure leading to detonation. With any big time power adder you should run colder plugs which are less prone to detonation. The downside of colder plugs is a higher tendency to carbon foul during normal driving.

lean has to do with too much oxygen / not enough fuel

with nitrous, if you do not add enough fuel, that will be lean.

As long as you're using a colder plug, the efficiency of the new spark plugs will not have any affect on the AFR.

Thanks. I pulled the plugs and I found the issue. I'm making another thread in a sec.

It might be. Under street driving conditions, cold plugs can load up. For street driving you are better off with the recommended heat range.

Just drive it like you stole it and you'll have no problems with one range colder.

Here's what the plugs looked like:

Hmmmmm

I also want to clear up a little confusion. The plugs are the same heat range as before but they are a step colder than stock.

FWIW, I ran the same set of HT1 plugs for 10 months, 13,000 miles and well over 500 runs, without a single issue. A couple weeks ago, the HT1s were replaced with a new set of HT0s, and they lasted exactly one day (4 runs at the track, and less than 200 street miles). I immediately replaced them with a new set of HT1s again, and everything seems fine again.

Just my experience...

HT1 heat range plugs don't like nitrous one bit. Here's a pic of 2 of the stock heat range plugs after a bottle or two through them:

What gas are you using?
What is your a/f ratio?
What is your total timing?

Better be careful, do that to often and your going to hurt a piston.
