Why Nitto tires? What are yours and why?

Why do so many people choose the Nitto tires?
Are they that good?
I heard they are cheep and that there are much better tires out there.
Why is it no one gets any other brands?
I was told Faulkan, think thats the spelling, is a real good tire.

What are yours and why?

Depends on what you want out of your tires. A lot of people go with Nitto DR's because you can drive them on the street pretty easily and they get lots of miles. Traction wise you can do a lot better with drag radials. If you aren't racing then I would say get some Kuhmo's. They are cheap as hell, last forever, and have a decent amount of traction for what they are.

I have the Nitto NT450 Extreme 255/50-17 and am very happy with them. I did a high speed driving school a couple of weeks ago on a 15 turn road course and they stuck like glue. People will alway be baised towards the products that they have but I'll give these tires high marks on performance and looks.

Well if we all of like them that should answer your question. I don'r feel they are cheap with a price of four almost $1000 but I like UM I love UM.
I want more of UM! Most of all I would like to be in the 12s and need them to hook up.

They have a decent TWR (300), the sizes I needed and were available within a few days of my wheels showing up. I wasn't thrilled about the price though. 18" wheels are relatively inexpensive, depending on the brand you get. 18" tires are a different matter though!

I guess i'm asking this because I am looking for a tire I can drive anywhere that will have a reasonable tread life, 30k miles minimum.
I will be going to 19" or 20", 9.5 to 10 wide and I really have no clue what tire is worth the price.
Hell I can't even pick a rim I like other then the Ford GT rim at 1k a shot.

kumho mx's why??? because they are the second fastest of the ultra high performance tires.

the bfg kd's are 1/2 second per lap faster than the kumhos but they only last 1/2 as many miles. (and 275/40/18 mx's are $164 per tire/ bfg 275/40/18 kd's are $225 per tire)

i run 275/40/18's and unless i totally dump the clutch at 4500 + they bite hard!! (read smell the clutch)

for every day driving they are by far the best bang for the buck!!!

off/on ramps at over 100 mph....no sweat!!!

if you dont care about turning corners, go with some drag radials(any brand, although the bfgs hold the record ,if you have 1800 rwhp)

Nitto 555's because of the price/performance value trade and the sizes available. They are great so far. I was thinking of the Toyo's because I love the ones I've had on other cars but I think they're over priced.

I don't know why, everyone knows mickey t's are better. As far as traction goes, Mickey T> BFG> Nitto. Exact opposite for the mileage you'll get out of them.

It's funny I said that because the BFG record was broken by a turbo fox running Mickey Ts.

David Wolfe comes to the line with the World's Fastest Drag Radial ride, taking on Mike Kay. Wolfe very hard, and the power comes on so strong from half track. Starting with a 1.31 short time, Wolfe runs 7.47 at 196.82 mph with stock suspension, to Kay's 8.36 at 178.24.

World Ford Challenge - on MT drag radials.

Wow.

Greg you sure have some nice, high priced wheels on the ride. If I had those I would worry about curb rash for sure. Plan to use 265s up front just in case I get careless.

I went with Nitto 450 extreme because they made the tallest tire I could find 275/50/17 rear 255/50/17 front. So far I am very pleased with them.

I went with Sumitomos HTRZ II's. Why? Because 4 of them only cost me $540 . Actually, they got pretty good reviews on Tire Rack too. For the money, I figured they were worth a look.

I chose Nitto 555 over the BFG's cause of price. I got mine from discount tire direct online and paid only 735.00 for a set (255-45-18 front, 285-40-18 rear) I could not beat that one.

Also at the time Nitto's seem to be the choice of most, other than the BFG's.

IMHO

I paid a little less than that for four Nitto 450s... 275/50 rear and 255/50 front.
