I wanted the SCT because I can easily and quickly change between flashes, such as putting in the stock flash before going to Ford for warranty work.
If I remember right, I heard the warranty mechanic can tell that you have been flashing/reflashing the vehicle and can still deny a warranty claim if it is tune related.

Anyone else hear that? [/b][/quote]
I haven't heard that, but wouldn't doubt it at all! It probably stores a code somewhere that Ford can access.

If this is true and dealerships actively use it to deny warranty work (which I doubt), the saying "You have to pay to play" will surely add some significance. Mostly though from what I 've seen, the dealers kinda like having the cash cow retail customers around.

get a sct and tune it yourself!
If I had more than one or two cars, I prolly would. But this is not something you go out and do to your car every nite after work. I'll let the guys do it that do it every day of their life. Not looking actively for another career at 55.

John, Did you do this yourself or did you take it and have it done? And most of all how is she running? Can you feel the difference?

Hehehe

Do they actually think that the obsessiveness stops with the purchase of the car? It's just getting started! I still tell my wife everyday how much I love this car and she just shakes her head and murmurs something about "enough already"

The company I bought it from programmed it with the mods I made to my car. The SCT has been programmed for both 87 octane and 91 octane. I have not put the car on the dyno yet but I can tell you this.......my trip to work today was a lot of fun. I definately could notice a difference in power. Also my gas mileage is a lot better now. I put 200 km (you'll have to do the math to miles) on it today and I am not getting a little over 24 mpg, which is a lot better than the 18mpg I got when I bought the car (BTW, I was getting close to 23mpg by removing the HC Trap and after installing the MMR intake got 20mpg before the SCT flash).

That may be true for me if I wasn't in the computer business. My wife see's me getting a new computer on a bi-weekly basis and about a year ago she realized just how much money I tend to spend each month. Everytime she see's me on this site she puts her hands around my neck and says "You're not planing on doing anything to your car do you?" Of course I say..."No, I know better than that honey" B)

The HC (Hydrocarbon) Trap can be found by disconnecting the inlet tube from the air filter housing. You will see a honeycomb shaped piece of metal. That is the HC trap. Do a search in the forum and you will find pics, description of why it is there and how to remove it if that is what you want to do.

It's a higher air flow intake.

John, are you using the 87octane tune or the 92? I would like to keep it at 87 if I can and still see a performance increase. Also is your check engine light on?

I am using the 87 octane tune. The Xcalibrator has also been programmed with the 91 octane tune, but I have had a few superchargers and I am tired of paying the premium gas price.

As soon as I flashed the computer the engine light no longer comes on
