Whipple Vs Hellion
Whipple Vs Hellion
Really thinking about purchasing 1 of these 2 kits. Whipple is about $1000-1500 more. Both will put about the same numbers down on stock motor without overdoing it. I'm looking for that insane acceleration feel like sayyyy a Modified GT500
. Its just hard for me to decide because i haven't been in a GT with either of these kits. Anyone with each of these kits care to chime in ?

I'd recommend a twin screw or TVS if you want that kind of feel. Take a look at the Roush TVS kit. My car is making 530 rwhp on a stock motor with a Roush TVS at ~11 lbs. No other power mods but a Magnaflow catback and O/R X Pipe. Between those kits I'd say Whipple though.
A TS, like the Whipple, will give you an instant feeling of power, like you had an old big block motor in the car. A turbo car will be less instantaneous with slower acceleration until the turbo spools up. When the turbo spools up and comes in it actually hits harder than anything else. I'm not talking abut a great deal of time, turbo lag is a thing of the past with the new properly sized kits like the Hellion but there is a little delay before the big power comes in with a turbo.

Not only that, but it has to be installed by a dealer who is Ford Racing certified. Depending on if the original poster was planning on installing himself, that additional cost could easily go into forging his bottom end or getting a great tune, which will help the longevity of the motor. The problem with a warranty is the fine print.
If you go with a turbo...makes sure it's properly sized for the application...bigger is not always better. Had a 67 and 76 on this vehicle and there is a noticeable difference in throttle response between the two for street driving. Correctly setup for dragracing, there is 0 lag.
As far as dyno numbers between your two options. I don't pay any attention to that stuff...500 on a dynojet can be 420 on a mustangdyno. Numbers are just all over the place between operators and machine types.

I've ridden in a turbo GT, and I have a Saleen blower in my '06.
I also have a GT500 with a CAI and tune.
First, the warranty SHOULD be a non-issue if you're going to do a power adder. If you're worried about warranty then stay stock.
Believe me it's hard enough to get a dealer to perform warranty work on a COMPLETELY stock car. Ask me about the clutch TSB for the GT500 that I wound up just paying for out of pocket on my bone stock GT500 (at the time).
Now... a twin-screw will give you a nice kick in the pants, but it's not going to feel anything like a modded GT500.
My GT used to be a little faster than my stock GT500, but now the GT500 would smoke my GT.
My GT is at 440rwhp with 8 pounds of boost.
Personally I will never go higher than that with my GT again. I upped the boost to 11 lbs. and fried my clutch within two weeks and it was a ROYAL PITA to find a clutch that would work with the power level and still have a stock feeling pedal (my wife drives the car too so she didn't like the heavier pedal).
After two clutches and four months of annoyance I realized it wasn't worth pushing it and dropped back to 8lbs and a stock clutch and am happy as a clam at that level.
I didn't really like the feeling of the turbo GT compared to my Saleen. It was plenty fast but it's a more gradual pull than the twin screw... but either adder is going to make you smile I'm sure
But again if you're looking to get the power of a modded GT500 then buy a GT500.
Mine is hardly modded compared to many others. For instance just the addition of a Whipple to my GT500 would put me in the 600 + rwhp range... to get there on a GT you would HAVE to build the motor, transmission, and put some good brakes on the car.

Imatk- I was really looking for the exact reply you made. I wanted to talk to someone who has hold both cars, both setups. And even though you told me exactly what i didn't want to hear , i will accept it LOL. The only reason i am apprehensive to actually buying a kit is because After install and such it'll pretty much already cost me $8g's. Then thinking about clutches and such just makes me
. I really wish I could have gotten a GT500, but it simply wasn't an option. If im spending this kinda money though I want this car to feel 100% different, not 45%. I really, REALLY dont want to kick myself in the *** after spending all that money.

The way I figure it, I'll have more power then a GT500, the 6spd & brakes out of a GT500, and still be below way the cost of a GT500 when I'm done.
First of all . Thank you everyone for the replies this has really helped me towards making my decision.

Your call WILL feel 100 percent different if you're putting down 400 or more rwhp believe me.
There will always be other cars that are faster than your car... so don't worry about being faster than x or y.
I think a lot of people (myself included at one point) get caught up in that and really at the end of the day most of those people will never see a drag strip or autocross.
If you drag race all the time then that's one thing, but if you're looking to just have a lot of fun with your car on the street then a blower or turbo will definitely get you there.
Hey I didn't want to discourage you at all man. I sincerely do NOT think you'll regret going FI on your car.
