had the shakes for an hour afterwards
Well, might as well chime in here. (Better late than never - this thread may be dead...)
Buried the speedo at @ 150 last month, but it wasn't enough for me, so I took it out again the other night...
I just did the math, and figure it was somewhere between 165 and 170.
I backed off when the CDC 1/4 window scoop on my passenger side ripped off.
I hit the 'average speed' reset immediately after (while already decelerating) and it read out at 167. I need GPS, because taking one hand off the wheel at 160+ was a stupid idea.
This was on a slight uphill grade, believe it or not, on a stretch of highway with no traffic at the time.
I think that's the last time I tempt fate. Strike 3 may entail more than just a missing body panel...

135mph smoking a Corvette C5 on the way back from Vegas. They were toying with me so I decided to quit playing around and left them in the dust. I think they just chickened out, but a kill's a kill !
Oh yeah, there was a G35 in that mix, too, but I don't even count that! ;-)

The tires!
Hey Tacbear -
That's what I thought, too after my 165+ run. I think the BFG's I have (like the ones on the Foose Stallion) are "W" rated, which is apparently one step up from "Z".
If not, shame on me. If I do plan any more driving above 150, I will be prepping a little better next time. I am not even sure the pressure in my tires was right at the time.
Happy speeding

Did 110 with about 150 miles on the odometer, It was at night even with high beams by the time you saw something you were past it. Its an automatic, did notice the tack shifting at 6000 redline ( pretty cool.) Got there fast and had lots of room to go. May try it agian in the daytime so I can see. Had a problem with a deer a few years ago with my 97 monte at 65, was not fun. Saw him 2' in front of the headlight... too late.

[quote=don_w] Once I added the Shaker scoop, that hood flex thing went away. So, all you need is a bigazz hole in the hood! [quote]
Same for me since I added the shaker. The shaker moves and the hood doesnt.

145mph (according to speedo) on I-25 going home from work one night. I get out at midnight and there was no one on the road except for a modified Mustang V6 that kept pulling on me until I couldn't take it anymore and shifted to 3rd and gunned it. He just fell back and I never saw his lights again. And just for S_it's and Grin's, I'm at 5200ft here in New Mexico!!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

Just got back from driving to Jacksonville from Pompano and back. Once your past West palm on I-95, it gets pretty clear and you can open up a bit. However, once I hit about 85-90ish hood shake made me back off. I even pulled off to check and make sure my hood was properly down. It seems to shake under constant speed though, I took my sister up to about 120 and didnt see any shake while un acceleration. Scared the crap out of her though. =D
Had to wash my car like 4 times on the trip though, **** lovebugs. =/
