Since you brought it up, I was wondering about the Motor Trend road test of thre "preproduction" GT with AT. They got it to run from 0 to 60 in just 5.1 seconds. That is really moving for an AT. I just was thinking that that "preproduction" car was a ringer and was tweaked far beyond what your run of the mill off the factory line regular production GT with AT will do. So I too would be intersted in hearing from anybody with a AT GT as to how fast they run 0 to 60. I don't think you'll be turning no 5.1 seconds more like 5.7. Hope I'm wrong but----------

5.7? Why do you think the auto is so much worse? Take a look at quarter mile times in this forum and you will see that the '05's with auto have had just as good (if not better) quarter mile times than ones with a manual tranny. This car has a very good 5-speed automatic transmission. The days of autos being slower are over IMO. I think the 5.1 in Motor Trend is accurate. That car they tested would have been the same exact car that we are driving now. It was pre-production, but had the same engine, tranny, weight, etc. of the production cars. And Ford would not have tweaked it. Mike... as far as your topic of 1/4 mile times, do a search on here... there were a bunch of slips posted. I think I remember the best stock auto time to be 13.6 and the best stock manual was 13.4. But the auto and stock are very close. Basically a drivers race... if the guy in the manual really knows how to drive, he'll win, but not by much.

And I would say the 5.0 for the manual and the 5.1 for the auto are accurate 0-60 times for stock '05's.

I ran my 05 auto back in November, and went 13.6@99.8

This was with 300 miles on the car, and with the stock pirelli's

There was an 05 manual running at the same time, stock, but with drag radials, and he went 13.44@101

i know this is about stock auto times, but swap the gears in the auto and it eats the 5 speeds and most everything else for lunch with ease....nothing wrong with this auto in my book....

The first and second gear ratios in the auto are lower, and better spaced than those in the 5-speed manual. This accounts for a lot of the low end accelleration.
