If this is one of those topics that has been beaten to death, I'm sorry for the repost.

When I say "beat", I mean...beat in all straightline racing aspects. 0-60, quarter mile, 100-140.

Is it possible with bolt ons? Here's my list (not all done yet), lemmie know how I'd fair...

CAI
4.10's
62mm throttle body
custom dyno tune
short throw shifter
18" wheels and 275 tires in the back.

Yeah, I know 18" wheels will hinder my persuit of speed, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice...=)

That's unlikely to do it. Those things are a lot lighter, and have about 100-120 more hp than you'll have with basic bolt ons. Now, if you do heads/cams ala BBR, then you'll possibly have a race.

The C5 Vettes are rated at 350hp. I think you're talking about the C6. I think he would have a good chance with his current mods against a C5. Most likely a driver's race.

I ran an 01 Vette Z06 at the local track last thursday. My car is an automatic with C&L and Alternative Auto 89 octane tune, and 4.10 gears.
The closest run was:

mustang: 13.47@ 103
vette: 13.03@ 110

I was pretty happy with those results

Yeah, no kidding...good job...

And yeah, I'm talking about a normal C5 Vette, not a C6, and not a C5 Z06. I see a lot of them where I live...and I'm feeling the need to wipe that smug smile off their faces...

A convertible with an auto and you'll probably win stock to stock. 18 inch wheels aren't going to slow you down, so forget about that. The Autos are beatable with a good driver and little mods. Pretty much a drivers race. I see to many old men in them, none want to race.

I've beaten 4 stock C5 Vettes with my 05 GT. I'm sure it was a driver's race, and in two of them, I punched it first...all they saw was left rear fender and tailights. In the other 2, they punched it first, and I was proud that neither could shake me (hung right on their rear fender).

You should definitely take them on!!

I raced a WS6 when I was stock and got walked when he hit third gear. A good driver in a LS1 F-body or C5 can potentially run high 12s stock. They trap a lot higher than us, so our best bet is to go from a dig.

my neighbor who mods corvettes and races it has bought a stock 03 C5 Auto.. I will let you know when we get out there together..he and I are good friends. I ran a 13.5 in my auto GT with C&L intake/ sct2 93tune and slp loudmouths..he said it would be a close race if we raced and he was stock. I will try to go next month.
