Just be careful.
He said the name of the track he was going to. :/

Anyway, I'd agree with everyone else. Put on the 17s, air down the back tires and unbolt the sway bar. Drive it right and you should be the Charger w/o much of a hasle. The Goat may be a bit tougher.

From an "EXGTO" owner, (an LS2 M6) and a current Magnum SRT8 owner here it is.

The LS2 GTO and SRT8 are a driver's race with a well driven M6 GTO. THe A4 GTO's, the SRT8 MAY have a slight edge. I've run both of mine at the track ansd have lived with both, so please don't anyone try to argue the point with me.

Having said all that. 4.10 gears, a good tune, CAI, 17's with DR's and perhaps UDP's will give you a very good chance at beating them. If you want to improve on those odds, remove your spare, jack, etc. and consider some LCR's and other suspension tweaks to get them out of the hole.

DO NOT run these cars from a roll. Neither of them launch as good as the S197, so practice up on your launch.

Let us know how it goes.

Do the GTOs still have the problem with shredding the front tires?

I believe this was only on the 04s or 05s?....

Pontiac upped the tire size once size from the aussie specs and the inside of the tires would catch and start to shred on the under carriage in tight turns.....

They finally addressed it though I believe

I stayed dead-even w/ a 6-Liter GTO from 80-115 this weekend in my Brenspeed-tuned GT.

X2, no steet racing for me. Anyway, thanks all for your advice. Looks like the race is dead in the water for now. My boss has not said anything lately and is not all about it anymore for whatever reason. It will probably still happen just not as soon as I thought. Which is a good thing since it looks like I'll need some mods. However my next set of mods was a lower billet grill and a rear duck tail spoiler, no performance gain there.

They addressed it by adjusting the front camber to 0 degrees! My brother tracks his GTO with me and he is having a heck of a time getting his suspension dialed in. No room for any camber adjustment, no aftermarket camber plates--it's a shame, because with a few suspension tweaks, that car will be pretty nice on the road courses. Not as nice as the Mustang, but pretty nice.
