Weird door lock problem
Weird door lock problem
Was on my way home from work and started hearing a clicking noise. This was at highway speed. Couldn't tell exactly what it was a first but after getting off the highway, it was my doors being unlocked over and over. Made sure nothing was leaning on the button and nothing was. Tried locking it and they unlocked and keep unlocking. wasn't in an exact pattern but would do it about 5-8 times every 15 seconds. Got home, shut the car off, took the key out and it keep doing it. Sat there for a bit and couldn't get it to stop. Got out of the car to unload my bags from the passenger side and it stopped. Now I can't get it to do it again!
This is obviously a major concern, don't want the car to spontaneously unlock! The roads were wet and I'm rolling on some new tires/rubber. Could this be a static electricity issue? Anyone ever hear of this? I don't even have another remote, so no one was playing tricks on me, but that's what it felt like.

Yeah, I just found a thread about it after searching for the last hour. Looks like there is a leak that allows water into the smart junction box near the passenger kick panel. I'll check it out tomorrow.
I experienced some weird electrical problems as well when it rained hard here. I shut my car off at my bank and noticed that my dash dummy lights were still on. I'd turn the ignition on and they went out. Turned the key back to the off position and they came back on. Took the key out of the ignition and yet they would stay on as well as my radio and heater fan. Drove the car down to my local Ford dealer to get the problem checked out and I noticed when I engaged the clutch to shift my radio and heater fan would turn on while the clutch is depressed to the floor. When the clutch was let out my radio and heater fan would shut off. I got to the dealer and explained the problem. And of course, when they took a look at it; the problem went away. They told me that water may have entered into some electrical harnesses to cause the malfunction. This was 2 weeks ago and the problem never returned.
I see that you both have 05 cars. Is this problem only on this model year???? I have an 06 no problems yet. Interesting?

My carpet is wet also. The problem is a leak around the smart junction box. I haven't gotten my car up on a lift to find out where the leak is. When I do, I'll post.
I have that problem as well. I had thought it was a code problem. The Ford remote code was so generic that the system was getting interference. Then I bought a Viper system that code hops and it still does it. I do need to get around to fixing this.
I had water issues with my '06 twice this year. First time, a big pool of water was in the pass. side floor area in heavy rain. Dealer worked on it and it was fine for about 3 months, then I found the carpet wet again, but not nearly as bad as the first time. Car went back in, they worked on it, been fine since.
Looks like it's still a problem.

Open hood and remove the passenger side cowl cover at the base of the windshield.
You will find that they didn't seal it well in there.
Check the drain while you're in there.
It didn't happen to mine but I know enough people who it has happened to.
No need to get it on a lift Ken.

Ok thanks! I'll check it out.
Well, didn't have time to do it and it's been raining for over a day straight. To make it worse I parked on a hill and now have an 1" of standing water.
I took off the cowl and it's right where you said. I'll take some pics to make it clear for everyone else.
