RPM spike on startup, 93 Perf Bama tune

Hey guys,

I've had and used a 93 performance tune from Bamachips for my JLT for over a year now and love it. Lately I've run into a slight annoyance, however. Just last week or so, I pulled off my throttle body and CAI and cleaned both and put them back on. Car starts just fine and WHOOOOO does it haul even better, but one thing...

When I start it up, the engine spikes to 2100rpm on start up, then drops down to about 1400-1500 and hangs there for 5 mins as it gradually drops down to the normal 900 or so. The only reason this is really a problem is because I live in a quiet apartment complex, and while everyone there seems to love my car (compliments all the time), I'm sure my loud a-- Pypes H-pipe/Flowmaster combo isnt the most alluring tune in the morning at 7am when I leave for work. Anyone know how I can get this under control and make the car start and idle more normally? it started happening after I cleaned my TB and CAI. Thanks in advance.

I think that is fairly normal? Mine does this, I'm not sure if it goes up above 2000, but for the first few seconds it's good and loud. I think with O/R pipes, being quiet is probably not much of an option?

Its not the quiet Im concerned about, I put the O/R pipe on there for a reason , but when the engine is cold and I crank it, it spikes to above 2000 and then jumps down to 1400-1500 then gradually drops.

Before I cleaned my TB and intake, it spiked at 1400 and gradually dropped. At around 2100 is REALLY loud on crank up, especially since thats right below where my exhaust starts to trumpet (2500).

Try reloading the tune after pulling the neg. battery cable for about 30 minutes. That will totally reset the computer, and should act just like it did when you first loaded the new tune.

Thanks Steve, I'll give that a shot when I get home.

Not in the slghtest, I live in Miami, we have "winter" here like once every 3 years, lol. Only thing that changed was removing the build up in the throttle body and cleaning the intake.
