Very Interesting!

Ok, so I put the Ford Racing CAI and tune in my 06 and everything was cool...Until I put my shelby hood on with the functional scoops that dump the air right down on top of the filter.

Driving around town a-ok until I get on the freeway. It takes a couple of minutes at 70 and above then .. Check engine light comes on. I get home reset everything and the same thing happens, about 5 times now. There was no change in performance or driving so I'm thinking... Too Much Air???

I just came back from the Route 66 Show in Flagstaff and decided to block off about 50% of the air comming into the hood and wouldn't you know, all the way down back to the valley at speeds of 75 to 95 and no check engine light..

Any Thoughts Guys?

Forced Induction and the car wasn't tuned for it.

you might be getting just a bit more air, not alot to where there is a big HP jump but enough to bump the A/F ratio a little lean. I would talk to Tillman and get som advise fi a tune would be the right way to go, or if this could be solved by just tweaking the tune (if you have an SCT or Diablo) [if not then i suggest getting the SCT]

Do you have a tune too or not? This just sounds like you're getting too much air; you wouldn't necessarily feel anymore power because you would need the extra fuel too, which you're not getting and thus probably you're running too lean and the computer is wondering WTH is happening.

Thanks for the quick replies.
I just have the Ford Racing Tune to match the car but do not recall if they asked me if I had a functional hood? I think your right, too much air and making the cpu thinking it getting to much. It just doesn't seem like that much but just enough to screw it up.
