V6 is quicker than the GT...?

One way in which the V6 is actually quicker than the GT....
is in depreciation. It goes on to say, however, that the V-6 is
a more pleasant daily companion.
Interesting article none the less....

Harsh
Over 3 years, a V6 will lose about seven percent more value than a Mustang GT, according to sources at Kelley Blue Book. That will eat into some of your savings, but with insurance and fuel costs factored in, the V6 still makes a strong financial case for itself.
Heck... It's important to note that rarely in history (even more rarely in a positive light on the new model) is the resale value of the previous generation of cars postitively affected by the current generation.
Mustangs from 04 and back are now selling at HIGHER resale values. Last time that happened in recent history? The BMW 7 series. That was because people hated the new design so much that they saught out the old design.
Sounds like the 05 is breaking all of the molds. That could mean a very positive end result for those of us with V6 stangs. Although, I don't personally care myself. I pack miles on my car, and so my resale value is already in the toilet. I'm not really planning on selling it anyways.
For those that are though, I have hope.

Got any numbers to back up that claim? I find it hard to believe that 04- V6's are selling higher.
04- GT's might be higher due to the slim availability of 05 GT's and dealer gouging, and 04- Cobras are because there isn't a new one yet.
Once GT's are readily available off the lot below MSRP and with rebates, loan deals, etc, I suspect any inflated resale value in the 04- will be adjusted back down.
V6 depreciates faster than a GT, which depreciates faster than a Cobra, etc. Just part of the game.

I'll quote myself:
Of course a 6 is going to depreciate faster than an 8. I never said it won't. I'm only saying that it may not depriciate as quickly as this guy is assuming (from past generations) that it will.
I didn't say which ones. I would only assume that GT's would be the cars that are moving. Why would someone forego an 05 (6 or 8) for a last gen V6? That's a no brainer. I know I wouldn't. If I had to have an 04 or back, it would only be a GT.
It's interresting to note that dealers are stocking their lots with these cars to have SOMETHING available for the folks that can't get the 05-06.

ISELLFORD offered the opinion that '04 Mustangs are enjoying a price bump because '05s became such a "hard to get" item. It makes sense, and probably made it it easier for dealers to clear their '04 Mustang stock at prices more pleasing to the dealer.

Interesting article. Still I don't really agree with it. The look and style of the car will raise it's resale value after the body style is changed again. Still I would say for most here this is a moot point as I am sure none of us have any plans of selling our cars for at least 6+ years. At least I am not. Now if only mine would get a build date........
