Upper control arm squeak!
the only reason I know of to change the mount, is to go with the longer Control Arm (which requires a longer mount) as was used on the later years; this reduces the rotation as the suspension travels

I do not know where the truth lies....I am just sharing what I have learned--not sure if this could be the source of your noise. Please share with us whenever you are able to figure out your issues, it could be someting completely different than this.......

Good video, thanks for posting! I'm not sure if the tank came down easily or not but I don't really think it's causing the squeaking, I just don't really trust the dealer much when they keep telling me it's normal for it to be doing that. I also have a clunking sound over certain bumps that's coming from the back somewhere I've been trying to track down for years and they can't find the culprit. I'm trying to find a shop that specializes in Mustangs and performance cars that I can take the car to instead of the dealer for suspension work and other stuff. They just seem to like to fall back on saying it's normal and it annoys me..

Here's an update on the squeaking, not as bad now with the warmer temps but now there's a creaking sound coming from the back too.. sounds like it's on the right side of the car. Also if I push down on the right rear I can hear the squeaking, not the left. Could it possibly be a shock or spring issue?
It's hard to say .... I have lots of creaks, groans, clunks and squeaks that I haven't tracked down yet .... someday when I get around to it, I plan to work through every moving joint and check and lubricate the bushings; also make sure all of the attachment points are torqued down correctly .... the only thing we know for sure is that it is caused by something moving that is not isolated or lubricated adequately

I was doing some research, could the upper spring isolator be making the squeaking noise? Don't think they were ever changed, also get a metal on metal sound over certain bumps too. The ride has become very uncomfortable recently since the squeaking started. Thinking something is very worn or broken, driving me nuts!

Just an update, had the isolators installed yesterday and they greased up the upper control arm again and squeak is gone and car rides so much better! I guess having 190k without changing out the spring isolators isn't a good idea. I actually enjoy driving my Mustang again!
Hey, that's some great news and yes, thanks for closing the loop. I have all the parts and pieces to tackle my project...as I have stated above, all I need is the time to get it done.

Huh! I've been battling a squeak in the rear for a few years now. I've always thought it was the rear suspension. So I've been taking it apart and greasing it up every Spring time. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but then I thought maybe it's the UCA. But seeing as it could be the isolators I'll be changing that since I don't they've been changed since 2006! Thanks for the idea @OneCoolGT .
KC & OneCoolGT, hopefully I can use this same post for a follow up.
It took me 4 months to get to swapping out the OEM Upper Control Arm and Mount, but I just got it done and wanted to share a few lessons I learned (for those do it yourselfers) and also share a few pics...
Lessons Learned (replacing OEM Upper Control Arm and Upper Control Mount -- BTW, I bought the BMR ones).
1. Can you do this at home? Yes, I did the entire swap using my QuickJacks, but it can be done with jack stands (if using jack stands, dont forget to chalk up the front tires--just saying)
2. Tools I didn't have I had to get: 21mm wrench/ratchet and 18 mm wrench/ratchet. The ratchet system works better in the tight spaces.
3. Do I have to lower the gas tank? YES!!! But, here's the kicker....if you have a coupe, it's a matter of losening the straps that hold the thank enough to let the tank sag a bit. Once it sags, the upper control mount comes off easily. BUT..if you have a CONVERTIBLE....you have to losen the straps AND the subframe connectors. Yes, you heard me right, not only the gas tanks is held in place by the straps, but it also rests on the subframe connectors. As a matter of fact, you can completely disconnect the straps and the tank will not sag UNTIL you losen the subframe connectors--ask me how I know.
4. Torques: Tight spaces = difficult torque'ing...just take a deep breath and get to work. It can be done.
5. Finally, took it for a test drive and it rode like a champ. No clunks, rattles, etc.
