They also have to use a common denominator calibration for thousands and thousands of PCMs for all types of weather and elevation. What they program at the factory has to work for everybody, everywhere. Thus, it won't be great for anyone anywhere.

I noticed an increase on mine(temp gauge sits at 12:00). Any extra strain on the engine will shorten it's life, just take care of it and it will last long enough.
