While looking for turbochargers/superchargers for the '05 GT, I came across this thing called TURBONATOR (check out http://www.turbonator.com/ for details). It sounded interesting at first, but immediately seemed like a piece of junk after reading the tech info.
I also browsed through other forums and opinions seem to be as divergent as they can get: some people said they noticed a 15-20 HP increase and better mpg, while others (the majority), even citing respectable automotive magazines, said it was actually causing from no HP increase to even HP decrease.
I my (not very technically quallified) opinion, such a thing seems only able to reduce the airflow, thereby at least not providing ANY horsepower increase, if not even damaging the car's performance.
Does anyone have any first-hand experience with this thing?

Its a piece of metal that goes in your air intake path.

It does absolutely nothing. Its a scam. Period.

That's exactly what I think it is: a piece of junk!
Shouldn't those guys be sued for false advertising or something??

It's been around for a while. Its "snake oil", and will require a big legal effort to prove this and prevent it from being sold.

It should be pretty clear that it's not something that is truely working otherwise, that's what you would hear everyone here talking about. If it's good or works, you'll here chatter about it.

Actually my local news channel did a "does it work" segment on the tornado. They drove that same strip of highway with the same amount of gas and got an extra 2miles/gallon of fuel so it does do "something"

I know the manufacturers and owners of this product. The guy who runs the show is shady at best. All I can say is stay away. Let the ricers with the Hondas and Nissans buy this crap. Don't put the turbnator on your stang, it is worthless.

it swirls the air being inducted, theoritically providing more horsepower and better efficiency. i put one in a '96 GT years ago and noticed absolutely no change in performance or mpg

Think about it, the product is called the "Turbonator". Does that in any way, shape or form sound like a legitimate and respectable product?

"Dude, your car is running great, what did you do to it?"

"Aw man, I just put in the Turbonator, it's sa-weet..." :notnice:
