Is a Tune required for a K&N Filter
#1
Is it possible to just pop in a K&N filter and not worry about a re-tune? Can the MAF sensor adjust to this upgrade or is the new computer in the 05 drastically different than previous years? Im not talking about a cold air intake, just a simple K&N filter. And if a tune is required, where can one, find someone able to perform it? My filter will be arriving on Thursday and this weekend I would like to install it and not worry about anything like running too lean. Every vehicle I've ever had, had a K&N filter and never ever had a problem with the intake system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Bob, we both got our cars on the same day (Dec16th) and they are both the same color W/B. And now the K&N filter??? Will this never end???.........Sorry, just had to do that. I just want to install it and go, but before I do im going to call K&N and ask about it. How is your car running so far? Mine has been trouble free and I couldn't be happier with it........................

What is a K & N filter? My Dad was mentioning something like this to me today as well.....and I thought he said K & M, but I wasn't listening that carefully. He mentioned something about a lifetime guaranteed air filter that you just blow off when it becomes dirty??? Is this what you're talking about....???

Kevin, A K&N air filter is a free flowing stock replacement air filter that usually increases air flow thus increasing horsepower. It is an oil coated filter that needs to be cleaned occasionally and re-oiled for best performance. And yes they have a very long life span if properly taken care of. The generally cost between $25-$50 and are well worth the cost. Visit their web site and judge for yourself.

Craig the car is great. I think my wife loves it as much as me, well almost. She loves her CR-V too. The car has been sitting the last couple of days due to the day after Christmas.
Man I didn't even realize when I congrat. you on your car that we got them the same day. I knew same color, same rims...etc. Hey by the way nice car.
I really don't think the K& N filter will require any tunes. Should give them a nice little boost though.

Kevin, No it's no mess. It's just an oil coating on the filter that you apply after cleaning. It sprays on and is very easy to do. It requires a K&N filter recharger kit (cleaner and oil) and can be purchased at almost any good auto store. They have been around for years and used with great success.

K&N filters are junk. That oil can get into your MAF and screw up the sensor. Don't be suprised if you throw a code within a few months of use.

This is America, everyone can have an opinion. So mine sir is this, K & N filters and cold air systems are great products and are used by many people on many different cars with NO problems. I know many that use both and have been happy with their performance.........just my opinion B)

I have used K&N filters for years and they work great without any hassles. Fuel mileage increased and the the throttle response was a little better also. That's my opinion~
