Traction control and SCT

I understand the SCT allows you to turn of the Traction Control… It’s off permanently, but it’s off. On the extreme tune app, there’s nothing that allows you to tune it off. Has anyone tried this and know how to do it? Or do I need to contact Doug?

It has to be turned off in the tune file and not user modified. It's listed under:

Axle / Scalar / Traction Control

Be forewarned though. It can be turned off but if it is, you will get a traction control message (and audible beep) every time you turn on the ignition switch. Then you have to push the Reset button. If you're willing to deal with this each and every time, have it disabled. I tried this for a while and decided to turn it back on. As long as you have to push a button, I just assume not to have to push it every time when it's permanently disabled.

THere is one little thing that I still get from time to time..

IF I turn the Traction Controll off in the tune then you CANNOT turn it back on. No one can make it default off to where you can turn it back on when you so choose. SCT nor Diablosport.

Thanks Doug.

Confirmed.

There is one way..... sell the S197 and buy an '03-'04 Cobra. You can default the traction control to off on these cars. I owned an '03 Cobra...

With the SCT PRP, you can set the Traction Control to "0", if I recall correctly, to disable at least the PCM portion of Trac Ctrl (power management). If the TRW ABS module talks to the PCM, then it might kill the ABS portion of Trac Ctrl as well (I believe this is the case with the Mustangs). On the Crown Vics, turning off TC in the PCM will not disable the ABS portion of TC since its module doesn't talk to the PCM (Kelsey-Hayes? or Bosch).

I had a tune that had t/c disabled. It was a crappy canned tune. Then I got a tune from Doug, and did not ask for t/c disabled. T/c is back on now. I'm so glad to be rid of the annoying beep. If I've gotta push a button, then I'd rather push the t/c off button.
