Torque Converters
..did a search for this subject, but none that I could find that related directly to this...
Are their any available yet? If so, has anyone changed out their torque converters to a high-stall alternative?

I have a TCI 3000 stall Street Fighter converter. It dropped my ET 4 1/2 tenths.

George,
Is your car driveable on the street with not problem or do you only use it at the track?

It's very streetable. No problems at all. I drive the car everywhere, got 22,000 miles on it.

George is lucky enough to have a son with a full garage who "gets some lessons from the old man" how to do things if I remember. I wish I knew how to do stuff like that.

don't worry dustin start to do little by little you will pick up on it very quick and save a lot of money.
I believe it would be a smart idea to not just go out and buy a new torque converter or have yours modified until you know exactly what engine setup and power you will be running. With cams, head work and such on the way it would be best to hold off a bit. The cam almost dictates what TC you should use, well... the duration does.
Match your parts correctly folks or you may end up with a dog in your hands.

I'm with you on this one Dan. I've been holding off on a TC change until after I get my supercharger installed.
I run a modified stock unit by Precision Industries offered thru Alternative Auto. It has excellent street manners and better performance, however I have not gotten any track times. Unless he changed convertors it would be the same one in Lidios car. I also use a supercharger too and it matches pretty well for the street anyway. To get maximum performance a higher stall would be needed that would ruin street driving.
Thanks Mike
Thanks Mike
I dont intend on running a supercharger or any other form of power adder until a few years from now. My immediate goal is to get into the low-to-mid 12's with bolt-ons. So far, I've gotten 13.4et with a JLT2 CAI, Jet TB, Pypes X, Motive 3.90's and SCTXcal2 tune by Brenspeed.
I have yet to mount my BMR LCA's, still need to get my pullies as well as some drag tires. I was thinking these, plus some weight reduction and maybe a T/C would get me there...just wanted to see if it was an option...

If anybody is really serious about doing this yourself, I have the Ford worksheets on how to do this. PM me and I will email them to you. I can't post it here because the pdfs are 3 megs each.
I'm interested...can you email them to ramirezrocky@hotmail.com please? thanks...
btw, I have remove a T/C from a tranny before (C4), but it doesnt hurt to see the specs and stuff on it...
