Tire pressure question

I just bought some SSR 18x9 wheels and a set of Goodyear F1 255 45ZR 18S...what is the recommended pressure? Is it 32 psi like the stock 17s that came off?

Thanks

F1 Supercars like the GT500? or F1 GS D3's. It does make a difference, the Gs D3's are extra load, the Supercars are standard load.

The stock tire at 32 psi which is recommended inflation has a load rating of 1587 lbs

A standard load F1 Supercar 255/45/18 at 32psi has a load rating of
1367@32 and 1433@35

Avg 22lbs per 1 psi. increase. 45 would be the correct pressure to equal the factory tires load rating. But the tire may say max psi 44.
Tricky, and thats the math to it, but its something alot of people dont realize when going to a lower profile tire that it requires more psi to get the same load capacity from the stock size.

Now I have the F1 GS D3's and run 35-36 all 4 corners. But that tire can handle more of a load at a lower air pressure being that its an Extra load tire.

Hope I didnt fry any brains, cuz I think I just did mine.

Now all thats got me thinking to what the GT500 recommends for front psi. Especially being heavier up front.

Tru'dat, when you reduce the internal volume of gas in a tire it is unable to support the weight, unless of course you can increase the pressure which essentially increases the volume of gas in a tire.

Not related to, but as an aside to this conversation, the maximum pressure branded on the sidewall is not a tire pressure reccomendation, follow the vehicle manufacturers tire pressure reccomendation up to the maximum branded pressure on the sidewall of the tire. Also never reduce pressure below the vehicle manufacturers reccomendation, and if the air pressures are different front to rear, also maintain the difference when increasing tire pressures over the vehicle manufacturer's reccomended pressure (ie; crown vics used 30/34 on the 15" wheels, if you were to increase the fromt pressure to 32, then on the rear pursuant to the maximum branded pressure, you would increase the rear to 36 - air pressure is used to tune the handling of various vehicles - oddly enough some manufacturers only have a 1 psi split front to rear or in the case oif some heavy duty trucks it can be as much as 25 psi)
