Ticking Behind Instrument Cluster

Has anyone else noticed a rapid ticking sound originating from the instrument cluster area? It sounds exactly like a computer hard drive and I wonder if there actually is some sort of computer in that area. I hear it while driving slowly. When I shut the engine off it continues for approx. 10 seconds, then stops. If I turn the key back to on without starting the engine I hear it again for about 15 seconds. I'm not particularly concerned about it, just curious.

I've heard that too, but I'm not really sure what it is either. I always thought it sounded like a fan or something. Maybe a fan for the radio amps??

Its the guage needles Im pretty sure. Next time you turn her off, pay attention to the guages as they come down (temp guage especially)
Noise stops when needle is done moving.

Same here.. I have it on my 07 GT. I notice it more with the Shaker 500 on. After I shut it off, I can hear something winding down a little like the drive motor for the disc player.

I agree with the above. Its the gauge needles going back to the down position, becasue when the needles are all the way down, the noise stops!

I took mine in for the same problem last summer. Sort of sounds like an old timer winding down to a stop. The dealer said everythings ok because another stang on the lot made the same noise.

I put the white face gauges on and had to remove the needles and then put them back on. I had to take them off and reposition them several times and each time I plugged the cluster in to see where the needles would set to , you would hear the motor till the needle stopped ...
