A coolant line to the throttle body?!? I don't think that is correct for our cars.

 

Coolant does not flow through our throttle body.

 

I emailed the seller just to see what his response would be.


"There are actually coolant lines running to and from the throttle body. They are being hidden by the air intake, so they are not easily seen. Thanks."


Odd, I have removed my throttle body a couple of times, and also removed the intake when I put the SC on. Never have I seen coolant lines running to and from the throttle body

 

That is a old 5.0L trick we used to do back in the days. This seller figures for $11.95, that he would post it for more vehicles so he could make a buck. In his listing he says some or many vehicles have coolant running thru the throttle body. Cheap way of making a buck.

 

Is this as retarded a concept as I think it is? Pumping coolant to the TB to cool the incoming air?

Although I bet the guy gets plenty of sales. We should all go down-rate the vendor for fun...

 

According to Scrming's website, he did this b/c the v6 tb has coolant running through it. He did a write up about it. He also showed that his inlet temperatures went down with this mod.

isn't the throtle body on the s197 model electric? If so why wouls you putfuid near the electrical components?

This is pretty misleading. They are absolutely correct that some vehicles do have a throttle body heater that uses coolant but the 05+ Mustang GT does not have this therefore it does not apply. The seller needs to remove the reference to our cars in his advertising.

 

Actually our stangs came with a heater type deal. To prevent the throttle body from freezing. I dont know if they stopped one year but i know mine has them and others as well.

Dude. I posted the evidence of the lines... I think ford either just used them in the V6 or they stopped using them after sometime.

 

There are coolant lines running to the TB on the 2005 V6.
This seller is being misleading since the GT doesn't have it. ONLY THE 2005 V6.
I have a 2005 V6 and it does have casting in the throttle body for coolant to run around it so that in severe cold weather it gets heated so that the butterfly does not stick.
I ran my bypass with a short piece of heater hose before winter and never had a problem with the TB.
I don't think the coolant is needed as all it does is heat the air going into the intake causing power loss.

I was not aware that the V6 cars had this. Certainly on those cars it is worth doing. I'd also like to point out that this mod will not cause any icing problems in the winter as I did this to a previous car I had and drove it through many harsh Canadian winters with no issues whatsover so if you V6 guys want to do this you can go ahead and do it with no concerns about icing in the throttle body.
