Those with MTs and 3:31s (drag racing)...

How are you launching? What are you 60-ft times? Do you have drag radials?

I've gone to the track on 2 seperate occasions and found it pretty hard to find the sweet spot which to launch this combo at. Here are two examples...

Good launch, with tire spin. 1.879 60-ft time

Bad launch, with bog. 2.0xx 60-ft time.

I'm just wondering how anyone else is doing this... I'm launching anywhere from 4-5,500 and most of the time if it's 4,500 and below it bogs hard.

I also realize that this post has a lot of factors you're probably wondering about to make a good analysis, but just ask me I check this pretty often. I don't have much time right now though.

I didn't know you could get a manual trans with 3:31 gears. Is that something new for 08? I have an 05 auto with 3:31 gears and couldn't figure out how you were launching at 4500-5000 rpm.

I believe it was new for 07... 3:55s were an option... I custom ordered my car from Iraq and chose not to have the 3:55s because I planned on 3:73s/3:90s in the future anyway.

I'm having the same bogging issue as well with my M&H's and 3:31's. No spinning here. The M&H's with a good burnout hook right up. And it goes so fast, I don't remember if I'm dumping the clutch or slipping it. I guess I need to pay more attention to that. 2.0 60's is all I'm seeing right now. Though, I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2 step. So I know that will help.

Try and just do a clean off of the tires and don't heat them up. When are you planning on changing the gears?

Darkfire, that sounds like when I slightly slip the clutch... Best I've done with a little slip action is a high 1.9 60.

travelers, actually the 1.8 60 came from doing a short burn out (compared to the 2nd vid)... so I'm guessing that's what I'll be doing my next time out.

I was getting 2.1 the first couple of times. I did a longer burnout and got a low 2.0. I've got my wheel balance issue fixed (BOTH wheel weights had fallen off) so hopefully I can get back to the track in the next couple of weeks and get those 60's below 2.0. Next mod is definitely the new MSD 2 Step Limiter. I'm not opening my rear end until I hit 12's. That's my goal. I may not have the money to set speed records, but it'd be nice to say I hit 12's with bolt-ons and 3.31's.
