Lately I have been experiencing a wierd noise coming from the engine compartment for the last few days. it starts at part throttle and gets worse towards wide open throttle. the strange thing is the car seems to pull harder when the noise starts.

any ideas?

 

Did you or someone else accidentally install a supercharger? :-)

Could be an air leak in the CAI or just the CAI itself

 

I hear it in mine and thought it's just normal driveline gear whine. Happens at certain speeds where you don't have much road noise or engine noise then it gets drowned out by other noises.

That was it! I looked under my hood and I found a supercharger attached to my engine. looks like it is a magnacharger with a custom intake.

 

You dirty bird. I wish someone would sneek into my garage and install one of those.

I have been super stoked since i got it. I bought it from Doug at bamachips. Installed it in 6 hrs. I will post some video clips as soon as i get it tuned. I am putting a 10# pulley on it this weekend. so far I love the power, and in my opinion the sound can't be beat. especially with the C&L cone filter. the airbox that came with it muffled the sound quite a bit, and was rather restrictive also. the car feels stock until you put your foot in the throttle and then it mashes you into the seat! Nothing like some 4.10 gears and a blower!

You're right- nothing beats the rush of a blower with tons of torque and 4.10 gears.

How does it feel? The Vette guys sware by this blower.

 

I absolutely LOVE it! the torque is available whenever you push the pedal down. I let one of my buddys (an '08 Z06 owner) drive it today and he was blown away by the power it made throughout the rpm range. It wants to fry the tires even in third gear. I have to run about 24 psi to get any traction and even then i gotta feather the throttle to hook. I would gladly pit this car against a comparable one with a whipple running the same boost any day of the week and twice on sunday. it sounds WAY meaner, it looks great under the hood, and the power is there even at 1200 RPM.

modded '08 Z06 (headers and in intake making 480 rwhp) from 75 MPH Vs. me with a passenger on a very very rich tune. I got out of it when the vette pulled just because i was on a fresh tune that had not been tested. gives you an idea of the power and sound. my car was weighing 3900 lbs with me and the passenger btw. all in all i would call this a good pull:
