Yes, I have already ordered mine over a month ago, but until this past Saturday I had not driven a manual GT. All I can say is WOW!!!
I can't wait 'til mine gets here. The salesman claimed that they did something to the 06's to get more of the actual 300HP out of the engine than the 05's. My response was, well they had to have changed the program on them, because everything else is the same as far as I know. He said yeah, but what ever they did is supposed to make them a half second faster too.... don't know if I fully believe that. One thing I did notice that is different from all the 05 owners complaints is that there was NO THROTTLE RESPONSE LAG. When I pushed the go pedal it 'goed'!!!

All this test drive did for me was make it harder to wait for mine. I'm so anxious now I can't hold it much longer. I was tempted to talk prices on one of the three!! they had on the lot, but none of them were exactly what I wanted. So I decided I could hold out a few more weeks. Well, they're gonna be long weeks of waiting, but well worth it in the end. Patience... ohhh I hope I don't run out.

I'd like to call that dealer. My dealer doesn't even know about OBD-II program changes for the '06 Mustang. I have an e-mail to Ford tech dept. I'm not holding my breathe. Send phone # if possible. Thx

Glad you liked your test drive!

I don't think there has been any HP or performance change with the '06s. I certainly don't think a half-second improvement has been accomplished either...that would take a heck of a lot of add'l HP to do that.

Also, the notorious 'lag' is on the automatics...the manual trans cars don't exhibit the problem.

I hope you have a large reserve capacity of patience...you'll need it!

Just purchased an 06 GT Auto, I had test driven an 05 Auto and there is a little bit of difference in the way they drive. The lag is not AS bad while not completly gone. Xcal 2 should take care of it. Also, the 06 seems to hande a little bit smoother on the ride. I did not even have to wait, a dealer had the exact one I wanted, even paid MSRP for it.... which is a miricle since in D.C. all GT's are marked up $5000.00. Also, I am an Alaska state resident in the military, so no SALES TAX!! 2006 Windvail Blue GT convertible fully loaded.

There is a small pause from the time you hit the gas to get up and go, on the 06 it is VERY small.

I have an 06 Auto, and I haven't noticed this at all. They must have tweaked it.
