What does -12an mean? what is that unit "an", and why is the number quoted as a negative? Also, what is the outer diameter of a -12an male fitting?

I'm getting the Stef's Air/Oil Separator and it comes with the -12an in and out fittings, and I already have the hoses and quick disconnect fittings (from my Steeda Air/Oil Separator that doesn't separate all the oil).

that's the size of the hose, is not negative is dash 12. I would wait until you receive the catch cand and then go to a store to get the fittings, you wan to use the same size hose that is now on the car. I think those Stef's catch cans come on that size because the are used a lot on imports and the use smaller breather hoses. The bigger the number the smaller the diameter on the hose.

Pretty sweet! I'm surprised that with all the upgraded stuff under your hood y ou're not running an air/oil separator?

 

It is separated.... oil inside the engine....air on the outside

 

the dash number is the hose fitting size in 1/16" increments. So a -12 is 3/4", -8 is 1/2". etc. It is usyall incorporated in the suffix of the part number.
