Well, TCI has designed a 10" 3000 stall converter. There is an eBay sale for $489 :

I called TCI. If you buy from them, it was $538.

As a comparision, Precision Industries is going to develop a 9.5" Stallion with an ETA of 4-6 weeks out.

What is your guys though on TCI vs Precision Industries Stallion stalls ?

What exactly does a torque converter do? Get more power to the wheels? Make trans stronger? Shift quicker?
Thanks for any help!

Well, a torque converter basically acts as a "cluth" for the auto tranny - in the sense of buffering the power from the engine to the tranny. So, with a higher stall, instead of taking off at 1800 RPMS (stock) your engine would take off at 3000 RPM's (if you have a 3000 stall converter).

The effect is that you can get to the power range from take off rather than having the lag time you have with the 1800-3000 while the tranny is spinning. ALso, the small size and better design can reduce the weight and help lower the power loss from the engine to the rear wheels.

I hope this helps. Someone may be able to explain it better than I

Go with Precision Industries. There a little higher( top shelf}but worth the investment, also quick to respond and have good support.

I was going to send them my converter but Alternative Auto's going to offer it with a Tunining packing so I decided to wait.
I've dealt with TCI over the years there ok.
