Steeda Ultralights or Sport Springs

So I'm about ready to pull the trigger on my suspension mods. I just can't decide between the Steeda Ultrlights and the Steeda Sports. I want a firm suspension, but refined, supple, damped but not jittery. I am contemplating springs, Tokico D-specs or Steeda Pro Action shocks, panhard etc.

My impressions of the stock suspension are that the front spring rates are a little light, and that the shocks are anything but refined. Too much compression dampening for high frequency perterbations, and not enough rebound damping, making the car on the one hand "float" and have some brake dive, while on the other hand giving it a slightly firm/jittery ride. The rear springs aren't that bad, other than it being too high.

Let me know your driving impressions.

I have the ultralites and love them. Stock shocks for now. Ride is bearly affected but the improved stance and handling is well worth the investment. I definetly reccomend these to anyone.

I bought my set from Brenspeed.com. Speedy delivery.

got the ultra-lites and the steeda pro action struts and shocks. at first i wasnt too happy with the ride height. since then, it has settled a bit and i am very satisfied. ride is slightly stiffer, especially over bumpy roads, but nothing that would have warranted getting tokicos imo. handling seems to have improved. quicker turning response, less nose dive.

the main reason i went with the steedas is ground clearance. i have cleared all but one "upside down v" shaped driveway. the butt of the car was going up, while the nose was going down. scraped in the middle. although, to be fair, i am not sure i would have cleared that one at stock height either. so other than that one time and a couple instances where my brakes were acting up going down a driveway with a speed bump (another story) i am completely happy with the ultra-lites and pro actions.

too bad you dont live in hawaii, otherwise i would give you a ride.

For added suspension upgrade get some good swat bars too. They really compliment and complete the suspension your installing..The FRPP(Eibach) sway bar kit is good stuff.

I have the Steeda Sports and love them. No pot holes or serious bumps down here so with these roads the ride feels the same as stock and corners better. The difference between the Ultra-lites and the Sports are the Sports are a little bit firmer.

I just put on the ultralites and if I did it again I'd go with the sports. Ride quality with the ultralites is great - so being a little stiffer would not be a problem in my opinion.

After riding in both over and over again, I made up my mind that in my own personal car I'd go with Sports. There's not a huge difference between the two, but the spring rates are noticable.

For a daily driver looking for comfort I'd definetly go with the Ultralites... for someone who doesn't mind a slightly stiffer ride, and is looking for the handling over just the looks and improvement from center of gravity, the Sport Springs.

Oh, forgot to mention... every car I drove with Ultralites had Proaction shocks & struts.

Ultralites here too, the only place I don't like them is over speed bumps. Otherwise they rock!

Update - Well I pulled the trigger on my purchase today. I should get the package in about a week and I will tackle the install the last week of this month.

Parts:
Steeda Sport springs
Steeda ProAction shocks
Steeda Adj Panhard Bar and Brace
Steeda heavy duty adj strut mounts
Steeda G-trac brace

I'll let everyone know how she feels after the install.

I talked with the tech at steeda and he recommended the next step would be Adj UCA, LCAs, Front CA relocation kit, and lastly Sway bars - rear first and then front depending on personal handling bias.

To those that have the ultralites:

Do the ultralights level out the car or is there still a rake?

I ordered over the phone with the sales tech while I was deciding. I could have gotten a little better deal with Steeda.com and perhaps a little better even with one of the dealers. However, he really was helpful.

I bought the Steeda Competition springs and they are great. They are firm but not rough and I have no issues driving around on bad roads which most of them are. I also added the Steeda shocks and struts. I drove the car through the mountains and she handles curves like a dream with very little body lean. In the city she cuts corners like a bad mechanic
