Yes, invest in a breaker bar. Don't use a torque wrench. Actually, don't use anything with a ratchet to break loose big torque nuts/bolts. It reminds me of people that use chisels as screwdrivers.
Also, if there's room, try a pulley wrench with the breaker bar.
...and cheater bars at the ready.

WOOHOOO You guys are the best. borrow a 12 pt 18mm socket from work and when I came home from work tonight I use my breaker bar and the lower half of my jack handle and presto the bolt came right out. The old craftmans breaker bar was bent pretty good but it broke loose. Now tomorrow for the delivery and a trip to autozone to get the puller and installer.

Thanks again guys

fyi...
for the stubborn bolts I make sure to use a 6pt socket. I've had issues with 12pt sockets stripping the bolt and the 6pt seems to have solved that for me.

I agree. ^^^ 6 point sockets will have less tendency to round off your nuts.

Well the steeda pulleys arrived today. I went to Autozone and got the 2 kits to help pull off and install the crank pulley.Used the puller with the smaller rod and got the crank pulley off in about 5 minutes. Several questions? It looked like I need to ground off some of a stud coming out of the Alt backet, is this true??? Also replaced the bolt with the smaller head bolt.
I didn't boil (heat up) the pulley first, I just grease it up and added a bit of blue RTV on the keyway and place it up to the hub. I then used the installer to get it half way on then the longer bolt to get it to the stock bolt and torqued it down. Got the belt on but still need to replace the fan and etc.
Autozone charge me $100 to rent the 2 kits but I got it all back when I returned the kits an hour later.

Again thanks for all the help

I just replaced the one bolt with the bolt that came with the kit, and I didn't boil or heat up the pully either. When I did it I just lubed the crank and put on the blue RTV just like you did. Didn't have any problems in the 6-7 months I had the car with the pulleys on. Now I want a new set for the new car, especially after reading this thread.

Well, I can say I'd rather have my nuts rounded off compared to having a broken bolt, that's for sure......

Well, hope you never strip your threads cause that just ruins your nut and bolt. You'll have to trash them both!!

DLY, now the million dollar question:

How does your Pony feel now? Any noticeable difference in performance?

How about issues with the charging system or A/C at idle?

My Steeda UDPs are sitting on my workbench waiting for some weekend time to install... I want to know what to expect!

Bottom line... WAS IT WORTH IT?

Well today was an off day from work for me, so I decided to install the Tein H lower springs and Tokico d-spec's. So most of the day was spent doing the install. It was like 50 out today in Northern Indiana. I did take the test drive but didn't get on it as I damaged one of the back shock bolts and need to get it replace but the car drove great.

On the pulley side I'll been going crazy as I had 1 bolt left over from the install. Well I found that it was the bolt to my 2 piece jack handle mmmmmmmmmmm....... wish I would have found out soon as I been running the install in my mind for 2 days to think of there the bolt need to go to. But the pulleys were worth it.

Some pointers:
Auto zone for the 2 tool kits you will need. They will charge you appx $100 to use and when you return they will be refunded.
Use a rudder band to hold the 3 jaw puller's jaws together when pulling the oem pulley. Also the short rod worked ok, right when you think you will run out ot thread it comes off.
I had to ground off a stud that came off the Alt. backet. A Dermal tool worked fine.
